You are really high on these offer sheets eh. I feel like your last 20 messages on here have been regarding that. Lets hope you're wrong!

I feel both will be signed before July 1st. They are waiting for the season to be done with, let their play do the talking. Once the season is over the talks will begin and it'll be settled before July 1st. That's just my opinion.

One of my good friends is cousins with Marner and they hangout quite a bit. I'll try and get some insider scoop!

- LeafGuy89

Marner would be far less likely than Matthews I think. I could see it happening but Marner wants to be a Leaf. I am not sure the same about Matthews??

How many contenders have 14 mil cao space laying around?

I can't see a GM giving up 4 1st round picks for anyone.

- walshyleafsfan

Exactly. Giving the money AND the picks would have to be from a GM who knew they were on their last legs with a team.

Would you? I would

Montreal should have the cap and definitely the need and their picks might not be so great if they had Matthews.

Arizona could turn around their franchise on and off the ice.

I just wish these contracts were signed Walshy

Exactly why I said Montreal.

and AZ could turn around their franchise.

Maybe add San Jose to the list, depending on EK.

Colrado wins the lottery with Ottawa's pick.

And then offer sheets Mathews.

AZ doesn't have the money to do it. Montreal is tied up to their balls in poop contracts and SJ is a house of cards atm.

Me too buddy. I think they will be. I could be wrong but the guys look like they're genuinely having fun and enjoying the prospect of being Messiah's and never having to pay for a thing again.

I can't imagine Matthews signing an offer sheet with about 25 teams, Montreal included. Arizona would be interesting, but I'm sure their owners will have to prove they can pay him and it's not the Leafs paying for him still.

I still think Nylander gets signed to a bridge deal. Dubas has a very clear style of how he wants to set up his team. I don't see a Nylander for a Dman trade happening.

Just my opinion.

I picked up RNH late in my pool thinking he'd rack up points on MCD's wing. So far not so good.

EDIT: HA i jinxed it! But he's benched

- david22

Same. But I put him in last second 'cause I got 2 guys hurt.

The good news about the Nylander situation is it is kind of win-win for us. Dubas clearly is in no mood to over-pay. So we either get him back and the attack is even stronger, or he is traded for defensive help which we could use also

Darnell Nurse is a tire fire (Not the only one). I don't understand how he gets into so many trade proposals from Leafs fans.

Arizona also wouldn't have the money to guarantee Matthews pay during a lockout year if that happens. Which could help sway Matthews decision in our favor.

Besides.. I'm pretty sure Matthews thrives playing in a big market. He wants to be the best player in the world, in the mecca of hockey. Not in Arizona where no one gives a (frank).

If they don't sign Matthews before July 1, he will be offer-sheeted. There is ZERO question of this.

The offers will be north of 14. Remember San Jose was willing to pay 13 for Tavares. Montreal and/or Arizona, and probably more, would pay 14 for him, and spend months in a perpetual state of champagne drunkeness if they got him.

Even at 14, I think the Leafs match. He is, simply, a true franchise player.

Marner may also be a target if he puts up big numbers. I suspect 10-11 will be his sheet, and the Leafs will match.

Therefore, You can count Gardiner, Hainsey, Nylander, and Marleau (if at all possible) will be gone.

- Aetherial

There is zero chance of Matthews not being signed to 8 year deal by July 1, he and agent have stated they want it done. Not even a debate question whether the Leafs - in their long history have ever had a player of this caliber on their team. The only issue is whether Nylander will fit in - and whether he is included in the next installment of the Shanaplan.
