actually i would like to thank the Peguino's for taking on Phil's contract in that trade, minus 1.2 million per year, this trade helped out the Leafs because we received Kapanen, a first rounder who we traded to get Freddy Andersen and we sucked so bad that year that we got the 1st pick overall which turned out to be Auston Matthews.....not bad eh!

As a Leaf fan I’d love to see then add Nurse to the team. A big, tough, solid defenceman that lead an underachieving team in +/- (amongst the defenceman) is exactly what the leafs need. I highly doubt the leafs will get much else in a return other than Nurse for Willie. d-men come at a premium cost (just look at what was Returned for Hall), and Willie is looking to take home big big dollars. If Edmonton continue to struggle scoring, and mid November approaches, this is a real possible move to help both teams. My guess would be a straight up deal.

Sorry, but until he is a UFA, he is Leafs property. Sure a team can offer sheet him but the Leafs have last say in anything related to Nylander. Most likely, Nylander wants to be a Leaf....not so sure the Leafs thing the same any longer though.

This is patently false. He is a Restricted FREE AGENT right now. He is NOT Leafs property. Because he is RESTRICTED, if he signs with another team, Toronto has the option to match it or take draft picks back- that's the restriction. But he is an RFA right now- Restricted FREE AGENT.

If you werent the standard eastern time zone fan you would see Nurse is a young up and coming 2 way dman that provides a ton of toughness. He is not just a young big tough defenseman. Young man on his bridge deal that offers more upside than down. But leafs fans seem to think Willy is worth a potential top 5 (league wide) guy on an entry level deal. Sorry leafs fans but he is a young top 6 winger with high potential. He is not a Matthews, McDavid, Crosby, Ovi, ect. And with this holdout his value is dropping. No doubting his talent, definately a 1st line winger. But he is not worth a teams other young top line winger, prospect, and 1st rounder. Or top young d, plus, plus. Especially not when teams (and every common fan) knows what the leafs needs/wants are in a top 3 d.

And Edmonton needs a top 4 d more than toronto. No chance they're offering one of theirs for a guy who commands more long term money than they currently have. To have a deal between the 2 the leafs would have to agree to take on one of the Oilers with a nmc and have that guy agree to waive (Lucic, Russell, or Sekeras) and that ain't happening. Edmonton may love to acquire Willy, but the best they can offer is Lucic/Russell and Klefbom/Nurse and a pick for Willy and Gardiner and a lower pick. And there is no chance either fan base is happy with that.
