Few thoughts
-Vorobyev has shown he belongs on the team and his pre season wasn’t a fluke. However, I’m not seeing why he’s Necessary to the power play. You have Laughton on the bench. You have Weal. I don’t see how Vorobyev is a better option on the second unit.
-Pay Simmonds. He’s a big part as to why the top PP unit is so good.
-Did anyone see the reaction by the bench when Konecny took a stick to the face? There wasn’t one. Good non-call but I couldn’t help but laugh a little. |

Thoughts on Dmen this period:
Sanheim looked decent that period. A couple of good recoveries, a very nice pass to Lehtera to the middle of ice splitting defense (if someone else he may have generated a scoring chance). And Al just him out on a play that is not his fault. Laughton couldn't receive a standard pass from Gudas and caught Sanheim flat footed.
Gudas looking more and more like the 16-17 Gudas. Playing within himself, making a few nice plays.
Hagg active in the O-zone again - gaining confidence. He needs to be the guy adding at the end of the play, not generating from his stick. He had another one of those nothing popgun shots at the net with no traffic, but didn't turn into a turnover. He had a horrible pinch that resulted in a very good chance.
MacD is a tire fire right now - I think he's still laboring thru the injury.
Provy still does those beautiful little chips, passes, footwork, but those errors are still in his game. The good news is the other parts of his game are looking better too. I imagine he breaks out of the issues sooner rather than later.
Ghost -- Looks awesome. He's our best dman. Amazing on puck retrieval and movement. Aggressive in all zones. Such a smart hockey player. |

What are you talking about? Three guys stood up and were yelling at the refs. Whatever helps your narrative bro. |

No thank you. It could be argued, based on a the small sample, that NoPa can fill that role just as well. Also, you have JvR who is a very good front man guy as well.
Thinking on it, if Simmonds would do a 3-4 year deal, then I would be much more willing to pull the trigger, but I don't think he settles for anything less than 5. |

The Flyers were much better in that period defensively as a team and all the defenseman were fine including MacDonald. There was nothing there to credibly call MacDonald a tire fire in the first period. That's just looking to see what you want to see.

Placing Nolan Patrick in the crease would be a waste of his talent. You want him to be in a more skilled area like Giroux and Jake. |

Konecny could easily have 4 or 5 goals on the season. Soon they're going to start going in. He had a goal on his stick in the first period and GK made a nice stick play. |

One trick pony that for all his talk of grit I don’t really see a whole lot of it outside of the PP.
He’s not a POS but I would love if they explore a trade. Here is to hoping.

Flyers as a whole played a solid first period. I didn’t see a tire fire by anyone. |

Wow... - SuperSchennBros
I just don’t see all this grit he is apparently famous for. Hes not a soft guy by any means but someone like Hartnell was a lot more physically imposing on teams than Wayne.
He’s a good complimentary player but I’d rather trade him instead of overpaying for mainly a PP specialist. |

He lost puck battles, turned the puck over (just did again), and looks uncomfortable with the puck on his stick.
tirefire might be rough, but he's been the worst defender this game. |

Can this team go two (frank)ing shifts without an egregious turnover? The play has been similar to beer league hockey. |

Solid PK. They seem to do a decent job breaking things up, but if teams set up that’s where they fell into that passive box.
Nicely done. |

Simmonds is very physical. He wins board battles. He’s a leader, which this team really lacks. He stands up for his teammates. He’s probably the toughest skilled guy in the league. He’s the second highest PP scorer to OV since he got to Philadelphia.
What else do you want? |
