Jealous? Not a chance.

I have been attacked by thin skin Leafs fans who took exception to my stating that Matthews contract is likely to be higher than McDavid since it will be signed 2 years later, with a salary cap $10M higher, after a season where Matthews is killing it.

If Toronto wins the Stanley Cup, I'll be there to watch the parade. You guys need to win a round in the playoffs first.

They've put together a great team, with great young dynamic players that are also insulated by experienced professional vets. Matthews is having a stellar year so far, but he is skating with some really good players up and down the lineup.

Now...

Matthews is nowhere near the same level as McDavid. Just let yourself imagine for a moment McDavid on the Leafs roster...

Now imagine Matthews trying to lead the dysfunctional Edmonton Oilers.

They're not even in the same universe as players...just get over it and enjoy the Leafs' ride this year (it could be a long ride)!

We have..

Matthews is a better 5vs5 player than McDavid. His TOI is less than Connors and he by far out scores him. McDavid is the best playmaker, not pure scorer. So since Matthews needs less time to score more goals 5vs5, i can't see how he wouldn't vastly improve the Oil, maybe as much as CM97..

This "Connors better and we both know it" shtick makes you look bad. It makes it appear that you don't look at the actual facts and have a blind loyalty to McDavid. Either try harder to be less biased, or work on your smack game.. Just please don't waste our time.

Literally no one thinks he'll be paid less than McDavid now.. All the talk sports radio show people (where many sports fans get their info) pretty much agree he'll get at least McDavid.

As for winning a round, im not so worried. If the Leafs do make the Finals/ECF it wont be as some cinderella team riding the coattails of one exceptional player.

I'd have to think that this is the year that Toronto spends some future assets to add a significant piece to the defence to solidify the second pair. If you do, your odds of winning are as good as anybody.

Matthews put up 40 goals on a 3 rookie line and plays a 200 foot game. I don't personally believe Matthews is currently a better player than McDavid, but perhaps the TEAM would have more success with a guy that plays better overall in 3 zones as opposed to simply putting up the best personal stats? Just a thought.

A little sensitive on the subject of cap hits for your better players?

I got accosted virtually by Leaves fans before the season started by saying Matthews will get at least what Tavares got. So is that now a reality? Looks like it's a very real possibility. I think Matthews is worth more so how does that Tavares contract look?

Like I said previously...trade Kadri and Gardiner for a top D-man, sign Nylander and put him at center.....once he sees that he will sign and at a discount for sure....plus helps with the cap

Tavares has a higher offensive zone starts then Matthews FYI. took 2 minutes to look up this information.

Well then you are an idiot. Matthews starts in ozone 70% of the time.
Tavares starts in onzone 61.4% of the time.
And Kadri starts in ozone 48.4% of the time.
