I think it's time to admit Chiarelli needs to go, he screwed McDavids career |
|
|
|
I like Matthews for starters.
But hold on with comparisons to McDavid!
McDavid is a threat every time he is on the ice and he is so dangerous, he does not need a supporting cast. There is no one in the NHL like him. The only player from the past that I can think of that was in the same class as McDavid was Bobby Orr in his prime. |

man I hate this, why is everyone everywhere constantly trying to rate who the best players are.. when did this become a individual sport? They are both great, excellent, phenomenal players! is that enough for both fan bases. can we also agree the cup, and all the ridiculous individual awards that mean squat are not given out in October. Yes, the Leafs look fantastic, that's super exciting for Leaf fans, why do fans of other teams care?
I'm a Jets fan, I hate that we took 9 penalties last night, I hate 3/6 of our D, I hate that our coach wont try splitting up our #1 line even if it would help the 2 lines struggling. this is what concerns me, not what's McDavid and Mathews favorite color and whos favorite color is better. but maybe that just means I'm somehow jealous and a troll, F if I know. |

No. It is the stereotype you lay on us Leaf fans. We don’t say any of the nonesense we get labelled with; we do not say Matthews is better than McDavid (Head flyer fan here does for click bait); we do not plan parades; we do not say we are cup favourites. We do love having Matthews and think we are one of the teams with a chance for a cup run. It is the media that puts out all the hype as there is a market for it (a lot of that is Leaf haters who are like moths to a flame) and is not from most of the fan base. |

Yes. The Leafs cant win beyond this year because they have good players who deserve to get paid. What a horrible problem for the team. Everyone knows you win by having lesser talent and alot of cap space. - systemtool
It's not having good players who deserve to get paid but how long and how much they get paid now for what you expect from them in the future. The Blackhawks and Kings are prime examples of what happens when the production no longer matches the contracts. |

Didn't they commit those long term contracts to older guys though? Not like 21,22 or 23 year olds? |

So Ray Ferraro says this on Twitter yesterday and it blows up. Might as well try it here....
Mathews has had an absolute ridiculous start to the season but the fact that Reilley is tied with him, and Marner and Tavares are two points behind, tells the real story on how way way too early it is for these types of statements.
I am a huge leafs fan end even I can say.... lets see Mathews put up a one hundred point season before we start making these comparisons. Mathews got 63 points last year. Sure eh had an injury but still he needs to prove he can do it. He has a long way (77g games) to go to prove he is in the same echelon as Mcdavid. |

On behalf of all Leafs Nation, we would be perfectly happy with cap problems after three or two Stanley Cups, respectively. |

I agree and disagree with you, Leafs have a huge fan base and reality is some have said these things and other idiotic things. BUT!!! this happen with every fan base!!! What smart fans realize is that stupid comments on any fan base are usually made by a minority of idiots.
How many times have I read on a Leafs thread that Jets fans think Laine is better than Mathews? too many! when in reality, yes, we probably have a small, very small few who have said this. BUT most Jets fans were just happy we got Laine at 2 and know full well we would have jumped all over Mathews had we won the lottery. |

I say this all the time, to me the Kings, Penguins and Hawks are all exempt from any criticism based solely on winning multiple cups cause every fan base would trade for that in a second |

It might go above 100%, as teams are so scared they start shooting pucks in their own nets when Matthews steps on the ice. He gets the goal without a shot.
Are you going to burn all of your Red Wings stuff when you convert to Leafism, or just give it away to the homeless? - Atomic Wedgie
He should start by removing Stammer as part of his HB handle !! I apologize if you have issues with sudden involuntary pauses when you talk ! |

ok quit making so much sense, it throws the Leaf haters for a loop. ever since your post, they have all been walking around in a circle, running their right forefinger up and down their lips with a tin funnel on their head. |

Because it caused a real rift in the dressing room this year at training camp.
1st day: Jeremy Bracco takes over the stereo. Marleau politely asks him to turn it down.
Bracco replies, “Shut the frank up. Why are you even talking to me? I’m a Calder Cup winner - what the hell have you ever won, old man?”
Seriously, you know how Canucks fans say that the Leafs can’t win because everyone hates each other?
It’s even worse than that. |

Matthews is surrounded by elite players. 3 good to great centers. This opens it up for leafs because tops lines can't go against all the leafs lines. Mcdavid due to incompetence of chia has to carry most of the load and he still has more points than Matthews. Mcdavid is the best player in the league. |

You just described Matthews.
I dont think Matthews is right at McDavid's level yet, but dammit this kid isnt too far behind.
I believe McD is the best player in the league.
Matthews is top 3 or 4.
