I agree, but man.. I do not get the rationale from Hak at all with not calling a timeout and leaving Pickard in. It's lunacy. Elliott got hurt last year because we played him too much. Perfect opportunity to get him a break. If you wanted to see how he responded in the second, ok maybe..but once 5 goes in..time to take him out.
You embarrassed him, and I don't care about the rationale. He has to come out. - Hextall271
Agree his logic seems completely flawed. Was never too late to pull him. Missed an opportunity to get Pickard a warm up for tonight and ease his first start jitters without any pressure. |

Both goals were total team breakdowns, but FFS we need a goalie who can bail us out on occasion there. The five hole goal, Provy takes away the pass completely and Elliot was just late to get down. Almost looks like he lacks that explosive ability to go down honestly. We were joking that he looked like and 80's goalie. Stacking pads and standing up and stuff. The second goal was a horrendous rebound and (frank) if I know what Mac was doing there, but just brutal.
The third goal should have been a penalty on Pavelski for the crosscheck on Ghost.
The fourth we though Hak was gonna challenge again.. He and Murphy looked long and hard at it, but then he waved the ref off and then they announced the review from upstairs was a good goal. Elliot had NO shot at that one. Fluky.
5th he had no shot on either. Kane had that right in the slot with all day. Shooters goal.
6th was a powerplay rebound goal.. again not on Elliot. I think it deflected or something too.
The 7th goal was absolutely horrible on Mac. First he watches Hertl beat him to the puck, then wiffs on a poke and falls over?? and then Hertl makes a good move on a bad aggressive play by elliot. Oh well at that point.
The 8th was a short handed two man break away.. God only knows how the (frank) that happens. - jak521
Elliott bailed his team out oh about a dozen times last night.

Team effort last night, but it seems that Elliot is getting a pass from everybody because of all the shots that he faced.
He cannot control his rebounds (not to mention his 5 hole on the first goal). That 1st period, including the 5th goal that didn't count because the ref blew his whistle too soon, were mostly from FAT REBOUNDS. |

Thats true. But they couldve used a momentum save on the first goal. Provorov's turn over was to blame but Elliot's 5 hole looked really weak. |

Keith Jones is employed by Comcast and a former Flyer. He does his best to not be critical of the team. Jak agreed that Hakstol was animated for 30 seconds. Perhaps that was the same point in the game that Jonesy was describing? - Dkos
So we should assume that the coach was only animated for 30 seconds and otherwise wasn't for the remainder of the game during an 8-2 shellacking?

Sure that would've helped but I can't blame Elliott there.

Elliott doesn't get a pass. First goal he could easily have had if he read shot and went down fast with both knees in a proper and not half butterfly.
Second one, ok, it's a changeup but you squirt the rebound to your right for an easy tap in..gotta do better. He set us on the path to the blowout but the team was very weak mentally without any pushback. The third, they just gave up, which I hate. It's all about the momentum saves, and he didn't make any them in the first. |

If you notice, he should have properly read that he was going to shoot, then got down in a proper butterfly that covers the 5 hole. I am sure if you ask him, he'd agree that can be played better. |

Your three best forwards are soon to be all over 30. Are you going to win this year??? next year?? youre going to challenge Toronto or Tampa in the next 2-3 years? Fast forward 3 years...Giroux is 33 and lost a step. Vorachek is 32 and cares even less than he does now...and Simmonds has another 3 years of injuries....who is going to replace them?? Patrick??? Couturier is a quality #2 but where is all the top end talent??
Our rebuild got off track by Tim Murray making a LOT of bad calls...Lehner and OReilly first and foremost. if finishing 7th in the east and getting Toronto every year in the first round is OK with you.....then who am I to argue? - RippedFuel
Buffalo would love to finish 7th in the east LMFAO. Your team is the joke of the league. Get out of here |

Needed a firm paddle down as well. Puck actually hit his stick but he didnt have a tight grip for whatever reason. |

A lot of overreaction to the overreaction.
The way this team played last night they deserve everything they’re getting today, and then some.
No one of sane mind is throwing in the towel for the season. It’s all about how they respond tonight. Let’s see what happens. |

The Hak blaming to me is kind of old. I get it though.
To me he has been the coach for over what, 250 games? Hextall loves him. Condones his ice time, and player usage. Condones the lack of attempting to interve by taking timeouts. Condones playing your goalies into the ground - etc etc etc.
Hak is what he is. Hextall has a lot of good standing with the fans mainly due to his scouting department. I don’t think we are there yet, but he should be careful about tying himself to his coaching staff - eventually the displeasure will turn toward the head of the snake. |

Another thing, I want Hak gone as much as anyone but who are the replacements?
I’ll bet my ass you see Lappy or Gordon. |

I think the timeout usage thing is laughable some times. Yes, Lavi used them well but that was also before challenges were allowed. Believe it or not but I do think that comes into play when a coach looks to use one early in a game. |

would the coach still have a job if snider were alive? |

Wait, did I blame Elliot for last night? If so, I take that back..
He did make a handful of big saves, but the two he ABSOLUTELY needed to make he didnt.. and everything spiraled from there. |

See to me its been Provy.. idk what the hell is going on with him (I suspected injury after game one) but he has been abysmal. Only Mac has been worse on that back end (and he has been god awful even by AMac standards) .
