The whole team had issues. Laughton has to pot one. - SuperSchennBros
Yes, Laughton had the speed and tenacity to make things happen for himself, but his lack of creativity on shooting was painful to watch. This is something he can improve. If I saw one more shot to the breadbasket of the opposing goalie, I was going to turn.

My most likely Overreaction observations:
- While Elliott battled and was left out on his own, the first 2 goals are goals that just can't happen. Flyers came out with pressure and had chances but needed that five hole save. It just seems other goalies make that and it's something the Flyers don't get.
- Provorov is just bad right now. He'll fix it but my god he is struggling
- How many times are the Flyers players going to fan on passes, clearing attempts, shots?
- Jake Voracek frustrates me. While I know he is talented there are so many things that frustrate me. Passes that always seem to be saucer type or up in the air, the one handed carry the puck in the zone lossing an edge in the corner. Would it be dumb to move a guy like Voracek if it allowed you to resign Simmonds?
- MacDonald still looks hurt. Sanheim also struggled.
- I actually understand Hakstols reasoning for Elliott in. While it may look bad I think he was allowing him to keep playing since he was battling all night.
- Did Jordan Weal play? One thing that bothers me about Weal is if he isn't producing he doesn't bring anything else. i could live with Twarynski and Aube-Kubel in there because if they aren't producing at least they can bring some edge or physicality.
- Maybe this embarrassment was good early in the season. A kick to the nuts and hopefully this team pounds the Sens tonight and gets the ship right. - J35Bacher

My favorite part of the Simmonds thing is how he is seemingly immune to the "leadership problem" that has plagued the team for multiple seasons. |

So in 20 games, IF they have to dump Hakstol, who do they get to replace? |

Embarrassing start at home. Thought the turning point came when Provorov got his shot blocked and turned the puck over after some terrific pressure created by Ghost. Time out shouldve been called after the 2nd goal.
The Top 6 forwards all played sloppy. Vorobyev looked like a rooke. Weal did nothing to stay in the line up. Tough to win a game when the 4th line is your best. Dont be surprised to see Weise tonight. Id reward Laughton with a promotion to the 3rd line.

That's more of a sign of a goalie out on his angles taking away the net than bad shooting. Sometimes getting the puck on net, hoping one squeezes through or creates a rebound is better than trying to pick a corner. Maybe not for Patrick Laine but.for Laughton it is.

I've sat behind the bench numerous times. You can't tell a coaches demeanor from there. What you're posting is complete nonsense. Keith Jones who could clearly see and hear the coach, says otherwise. - MJL
So I see you have improved your personal skills to include the ability to know what I was able to hear and see last night.. Im actually impressed.

So, if Pickard wins tonight, regardless of the score and how he plays personally, can we expect to see him start for the next month and a half straight? |

I know from experience of sitting directly behind the bench including against the glass what you can hear and see. I also know that you can't tell much looking at the back of the coaches head. Calling it like it is has nothing to do with people skills.

The players abandoning the system so often/quickly speaks to the quality of the system itself, and their general belief in Hakstol, tho. If they felt secure in how the team is structured, they wouldn't be so quick to freelance all the time. |

I think the thing that bothered me most was the Sharks just played the night before against the Isles; we were the more rested team and didn’t jump on them. Another complaint, and also a big difference from season opener against Vegas, we played with zero physicality last night. Absolutely none.
It’s really a shame. The few times we had good pressure and our better scoring chances, the Sharks would have a breakout rush from it and scored right away. The Couts miss on that one shot was brutal but mainly because The pass from Giroux was so damn perfect.
I thought our best player may have been Raffl. Guy was a beast on the PK last night. |

Sure the goalie was in perfect position. The get creative! He has to find a way where there is none. You may not think he has the skills to improve, but he should. Race to a stop, try to chip the puck over the goalie. Fake the shot, see if anything opens. Swing wide and try to bank it off the goalie. Go for the wrap around. Try something, anything.

This is reactionary to one game and is a mistake. - MJL
Not really. i have felt this way about him for a while. I understand his skills. But for what he is paid, fair or not, i still expect more from him.
I guess for me I would prefer a more well rounded skill set compared to his dynamic but sometimes chaotic type game.

Disagree completely with that. This is a human element here and happens with every team at some point and is a serious reach. Shows a lack of understanding of systems in my opinion. |
