No, I think Bill said Weise on 4th; Laughton to 3rd - Scoob
Okay, I can deal with that. I thought Laughton was one of the few players who played well last night. I just don't like Weise one bit.

It's not strange for a coach to change the lineup after an 8-2 ass whipping.

I was at the game last night... stayed for the whole damn thing too.
1- People love Gritty. I love Gritty. Him making his regular season entrance the way he did was awesome lol.
2-The fans vehemently booed all of Hak, Weise, and Mac. Its distasteful, especially on opening night, but its obvious that the fan base has grown beyond tired of certain things.
3- "Elliot battled": Forget that. Yes he did not get much help at all.. but we started off with a ton of pressure and had a couple good looks early and then he gives up two really soft goals on the first three shots he sees. Took the wind completely out of the sails of the team.
4-The fact that this team is so easily deflated is extremely problematic. They caved and had ZERO fight in them. A decade ago this org. would not have stood for that type of beating in any game let alone on home ice and on opening night.
5-The only players I thought even played remotely well was the second line, Laughton (top player in my eyes), Raffl, and Voracek. G and Ghost werent horrible, but the effort just wasnt there for most of the night.
6- I sat right behind Hak. That man seriously is the definition of stoic. Down 4-0 in the first and not a single emotion escapes him. No yelling. No bs with the refs (despite an OBVIOUS crosscheck on Ghost which resulted in the third goal), and zero attempt (outside of the locker) so slow the onslaught. He should have used a timeout after that second goal. Two goals mere seconds apart, early on in your home opener. We were rattled and were never able to get our pace back. We were constantly on our heels. I think the Sharks had something like 26 shots on net through the first period. Insane that he did not even try to slow things down. Also, IDGAF if were playing tonight in OTT.. Pickard should have started that second period.
7- I have been to about a hundred games in my life.. I have never been to a game where the place was that empty to start the third period... even during the 06-07 season. It was about a third filled. Everyone knew that nothing exciting was gonna happen, primarily because this team lacks true character.
All around, the worst opening night game I have ever been to. Also, extremely surprised that there was no giveaway on opening night. Wild. Total let down. - jak521
Was that your girlfriend we could see everytime they showed Hak on the broadcast? |

Listen, in three games so far we've had two shorthanded goals allowed where Vorobyev was the last man back playing the right half wall/right point position. This isn't an attack on a 21 year old rookie. This is a reflection on Hakstol's lack of attention to detail. Clearly Vorobyev is a forward who has trouble defending, so you might want put a defenseman there with offensive upside because the damn power play is about to expire anyway. Zero need for four forwards and one defender for less than a minute of power play time.
Has Hakstol ever won a coach's challenge? He has monators behind the bench and still can't find the right time to call BS on a play he can rewind and look at over and over if he needs to.
Assuming Elliot's underwear is white. He should have took them off during second intermission and had them handy to put on the end of his stick and wave as a flag. Elliott looked bad but he needed mercy. I wouldn't be surprised if Elliott played tonight, the way Hakstol loves to ride the hot hand.
I miss the days of Peter Laviolette. His timeouts really hit a button with this team. I'm not even sure Hakstol knows timeouts are in the rule books.
I heard a quote by Hak during this pre season about trying to get his system right. He's had most of the same players for two seasons, now heading into season three. He's been here four seasons. If the players don't get the system by now, they never will.
The proof is in the pudding. You’re right, Myers doesn’t change what happened last night but an Unnecessary change, where Folin was directly responsible for bad turnovers that led to goals, when you didn’t need to take out Gudas two games in. Sorry, that’s on Dave Hakstol. - SuperSchennBros
I see that comment about Laviolette in this group all the time. People on here were begging for him to be fired. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose. |

No it’s not, but Weise for Weal...what’s the point? Seems an inconsequential move |
