I think it's absolutely hilarious that there's literally nothing you can say to me except that I drink. Oh, no! The horror!

Because what I say is right and you got (frank)ing nothing else.

It isn't but if the beer goggles tell you so, go for it.

Gives Karlsson poop for "two giveaways" but doesn't realize Doughty leads the league in giveaways with 7 so far (tied with Brent Burns).

That's not to say that Karlsson is better defensively than Doughty but it's pretty funny how you're cherry picking instead of looking at the whole picture.

Zaitsevā€™s contract is fine if he stays healthy and plays like he did two years ago. So far heā€™s looked good.

Yeah, but we should trade him + and get a real defense-man.

(frank) Gauthier, Marner is making Tavares look even better than he already is. Marner has quietly been driving the Leafs PP and getting Tavares a lot of great scoring chances and easy goals.

Pretty much all 4C are cheap. That's why they're 4C. Dime a dozen players that litter the UFA market, the waiver wire and deadline day deals (although stupid expensive).

But he's too slow to stick. Almost rather just keep signing veterans who know their role and want to win as long as they're UFAs and not wasted 2nd round picks.

10% of 80 million would be 8 million. There's 31 teams. I mean, it basically allows 10 teams to get an extra marquee player and another 10 teams to have the money to do the same. Teams will max out the luxury tax and those players will just have to go somewhere else if they want that money.
- Unholy_Goalie

So this luxury tax would help lower teams in the market obtain better players, thus making them subject to the luxury tax?

NHL teams are run like a business because they are.

I own an auto repair shop and wouldn't want to share my profits with another shop because i"m better or more popular. Nor would they, Thank god the government doesn't have revenue sharing this way, Or luxury tax.

The NHL and it's franchises are working together, not against each other. That's like saying the Tim Hortons franchises are working against each other. They aren't. They're all Tim Hortons and each building is it's own franchise.

Your example doesn't work. Your example would be more like the NHL vs. the NFL vs. the NBA etc. and even that doesn't match your example exactly right.

The 31 franchises all need each other for the league to work. It can't be the same 10 teams playing each other every night.

And no, luxury taxes won't make teams like Arizona a luxury tax team. It just helps them stay in the black because they'll never spend 80 million a year.

Oh and by the way, the government already has revenue sharing. It's called social security, health care, welfare, social programs etc all collected through taxes. Kinda revenue sharing. And the NHL already has revenue sharing, they've had it since the 2005 lockout.

No, A franchisee would agree to such conditions. If the contract changed suddenly, there would be a problem. I agree, the NHL is a franchise, but teams do compete. Taxes are not revenue sharing, yes they pay for social programs and government employees, but not your competition.

They've been revenue sharing for about 13 years. A luxury tax revenue share would only increase the amount of revenue sharing. For a third time; revenue sharing already exists.

NHL franchises aren't competing against each other. They are on the ice but in terms of business, fans in Detroit are served by the Detroit franchise while fans in Tampa Bay are served by the Tampa Bay franchise. Fans from Detroit aren't going to move to or cheer for Tampa Bay if Tampa Bay gets money from Detroit and vice versa. The franchises compete on the ice but as a business, they're really all working together because they're selling competition on the ice so the CBA is to improve that competition and make all the franchises financially viable.

Detroit is never going to do that.
Larkin at 6.1mln for 5 years might have more value than an unsigned / 7.5mln/year nylander

It was made pretty clear that Kevin Shattenkirk will be a healthy scratch Thursday at the Garden against the Sharks. He said he needs more "urgency" in his game, and Quinn said he needs to regain his confidence after what happened last year.

Hero to zero.
