I wouldn't play Brock with EP right now . He really does suck so far. Sven was pulled from that line and scored 2 G 1 A. Brock needs to find his game. Playing on his line looks like you are playing one man down.

Markstrom is a joke . We really should have gtabbed MacElheny when he went on waivers. It is very hard fighting back when you are down 2 goals in the first five minutes.

Roussel can't get here quick enough.

I think Benning's plan is to lose this year, you'd better get used to Markstrom starting 55 games. Bettman told Benning he could have the first pick if they tanked lol.

I mean, not sad about this because I wasn’t happy about three years of Gags, but can you honestly say he was outplayed by anyone but Pettersson during pre-season?

I think his lack of pace did him in.

2/3 of Baertschis points were on the PP. So really, on his line he had a goal, which don’t get me wrong, that’s good news.

I think there are a few guys who aren’t as “fast” as Benning makes them out to be.

Edit - trade him TO with 50% retained for a 4th

Baertschi was dangerous most of the night.

Virtanen I didn't notice at all save for one wide open slapper that the goalie saw all the way.

Yeah scoring on the PP should not be considered a bad thing.

If Leipsic hasn't been productive after 30 games, waive him and call up Gagner.

Forget Gagner bring up a kid from Utica. Gagner will be bought out in the summer.

Because he is basically in the Leafs organization already, he’s the leading scorer for the Marlies, he’s already cleared waivers so they can leave him in the AHL until they need him, which they probably will for their playoff run. The cap hit and real dollars would come down for the Canucks and at 1.5 he will likely fit in the Leafs cap at the end of the year.

Just saying his scoring burst was more about the PP than his new line mates.

Like someone said yesterday Markstrom belongs in the AHL.

I think BB might still be fighting injury. His skating and shot are clearly off. Not time to panic as of yet.

Rousell will bring energy for sure. Baertchi seems to produce every time Green demotes him lol go figure.

Agree I don't think it's time for Brock/EP on 5/5 just yet but on the PP we have to keep getting Brock into shooting positions to succeed. Even if it's a crap garbage goal to get him going. The longer he goes without scoring the tighter he'll grip the stick then yipes.

Sutter and JV have had flashes but nothing great.

But the Markstrom thing is almost comedy-worthy.

I think I’d like to see him play before anointing him a for sure status. Schaller was supposed to bring energy and hard to play againstness and he lost his job to Motte, sort of.

I guess I don't put as much stock into preseason, or the first few games of the season as others do.

Team Doctors cleared Demko to travel on plane despite his concussion. Now they are saying that the flight to Utica may have made his symptoms worse. Demko's agent is as confused as the media as to how the doctors let him fly despite the symptoms he was showing. Not a good look.

I liked the Shaller, Granlund, beagle line last night - bad news for Motte though.

I see why Shaller for 12 goals, he shovels the puck to the net and follows it.
