There was nothing wrong with putting Folin in that game. Gudas wasn't lights out in Vegas and the whole game was pretty sloppy. Folin had a good camp and deserved a game. He played bad and was taken right out. End of story. There were people on this board clamoring for him to be in over Gudas to begin with. - ClaudeFather
Is this post serious? Folin wasn’t even the 9th or 10th best defenseman to show up to camp... |

I'd probably say he was 8th after the top-6 and Myers. IMO. |

When he plays on the edge, he's effective. When he plays on either side of the edge, he's a liability. Overall, he's done a fair job. - jmatchett383
I always liked him here in Tampa. When he plays hard but clean, those hipchecks are a thing of beauty.

Cant believe we traded him straight up for Braydon Coburn - YuenglingJagr
Coburn was great for the first couple of seasons here. He's still solid, but has lost foot speed. I'd much rather have him than Girardi.

Yeah, the problem is he crossed the line too many times and was timid the last half of last season. If he doesn't play on the edge, he's ineffective. |

They are but unfortunately they are few and far between. He misses a lot. |

Love the NHL logic on this one.
Let's reduce the padding of the guys who have frozen rubber discs fired at them at 100 mph, but let's keep the plate armor on skaters' shoulder pads. - jmatchett383
It would reduce injuries dramatically if the checkers had some risk associated with heavy hits. And the elbows would fly less if there was risk to the elbower and not only the elbowee. |

Exactly. Go back to the cloth pads on the elbows and shoulders and you'd probably see some guys easing up. |

More or less. Amac and Sanheim only played a little, so it was hard to tell. But honestly, Folin outplayed AMac in camp, but I'm giving AMac the benefit of the doubt. |

Ok I am excited for Myers like the next person, but how is he ranked below Provy and Ghost while above everyone else? Sanheim is just getting wet, Myers is still dry as they come. |

Fixed.
And was there a secret summer season no one told me about? Is it like fight club, but no one talks about summer season? |

First of all anytime a player is given a chance to play and doesn't play well, that's on the player not the coach. As far as the decisions by the coach, Gudas may not have been lights out but he wasn't bad either. They won so why switch? I also think swapping a defense partner for a young player like Sanheim isn't the best way to get that player to elevate his game. Folin was brought here to be the 7th. He should play when an injury occurs, or when another player falters. That didn't happen in game 1.

Easy to outplay a player in camp when one player isn't there except for the end.

Real question, Why was the plan even made to have Folin play game 2 before season started? Is it to be fair? I dont get it. - Buzzo
Kind of like how Hak was fair to Morin last year on the opening road trip. |
