Seems like Neuvirth, Lyon and Knight aren't too far away from returning. All of them require waivers if they aren't going to stay with the Flyers.

I think hextall has alway been quite high on Pickard. Wonder if the plan might be to move on from neuvy? He really can't be relied upon. I'm not sure if you can waive him to the a once he gets healthy or what would be done.

Regarding tonight's game, we always seem to have trouble with San Jose and Anaheim. Big bodied western teams have pushed us around. Hoping that changes tonight but that's def what I noticed last year despite game results.

If one gets back quick enough we can not waive one and ship ... Dale...Weise .... to Lehigh.

Let me fill you in.

James van Riemsdyk is a professional ice hockey player. This past season, as an unrestricted free agent, he was signed by the Philadelphia Flyers hockey club to a 5-year contract with an average annual value of $7 million. He was assigned jersey number 25 and appeared in 2 regular season games before being injured by a puck fired into his knee in the first period of his second game.

He was, however, incorrect, as Van Riemsdyk played 4 minutes and 23 second of power play time per game pre-injury.

My gf surprised me with tickets for tonight for my bday (it’s tmrw). Please pray I either get a pic with Gritty or that they sell Gritty dolls.

I can't wait for tonight. The new arena parts + Gritty should make it a zoo.

I think there's a chance Neuvirth stays and we have 3 goalies, but Weise probably stays until JVR is back now

Yes, but he's an asset that has some value, if minimal. I'd rather not lose him for nothing.

Does that same waiver rule apply like Martel (healthy scratch game 1) that if someone claims Lyon he'd have to be on roster 10 games or 30 days?

I'm thinking not if Knight gets back before 30 days after ... Dale.... Weise .... was waived. I think Knight won a spot but his injury kept that slug here.

As the season goes on and goalies do get injured, what are the value of the Flyers stockpile of goalies? It's a stretch but, is Hex trying to leverage future market demand?

Also, not that I want to see Gudas (I happen to be a fan) traded anytime soon, but wouldn't it be smart of Hex to trade him for some more picks since the young guys are NHL ready? For once, I believe that this season Hex will be busy at the TDL.

I'm not the biggest Knight fan, so it really doesn't matter to me. Good for him if he made the team, but I don't want either of them here. At least we know Hakstol is fine with letting Weise sit for a while though. I worry it would be Corban KnightdeVelde

I definitely could see a few moves at the deadline as long as the kids, (Myers especially) are killing it in Lehigh. But also if they are in the playoff chase, say top 2 in metro, doesn't he owe the team not to trade vets?

Highly unlikely - it's not like their hoarding Parent, Roy, and Brodeur lol

UND Baby!

I know that could be a problem but it could also mean no Weise and no Lehtera.... Oh the joy.

Again...that is what it was interpreted as when Martel/Pickard was claimed, but Edmonton lost Pontus Aberg on waivers to Anaheim and then a week later Anaheim waived him, he cleared, and he was assigned to the Ducks AHL team (San Diego). The rule is written kind of poorly where it says the original team can assign the guy to their AHL affiliate at any time during the season unless there is an exemption (with one of the exemptions being 30/10 rule).

Regardless, we have already seen a guy waived a week after being claimed

Bill, or anyone that can answer, I know game says 7PM but will this most likely be at 7:30 due to home opener activities or is that prior?

True, but I do believe that Neuwirth, when healthy, and Lyon do have value - just not on the level as those that you mentioned.

Imho, Lyon has AHL value for sure while neither can be relied on for regular NHL duty.

Knight is very blah to me. I applaud him for his hard work, I just don't think he brings anything special to the table.
