Buffalo Sabres draft pick Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has won the OHL Player of the Week award. Luukkonen is playing for the Sudbury Wolves this season as he prepares for life as a professional in North America, and is already 5-0 with a .944 save percentage. Selected 54th overall in 2017, Luukkonen signed his entry-level contract this offseason and is quickly becoming one of the top goaltending prospects in the league. He’ll likely start out next season in the AHL, but the Sabres are hoping for big things from him down the line.

Pomminville too, he couldn't stop smiling the whole interview. It's almost like how the Bills were last year, everyone fired up for each other on the sidelines and stuff like that. Can't remember the last time the whole locker room was smiling in post game interviews for the Sabres.

it may have some to do with the locker room but i think winning is a huge part of that. i would hold full judgement on this till we see how they react to some adversity

There’s a difference here IMO. This team looks like they all belong on the ice together.

Sheary is a speedy winger for Eichel that doesn’t just shoot at every opportunity

Dahlin looks like he’s going to be unreal

Hutton looks like he has a brain

The bottom pair is finally not an AHL bottom pair and it’s two guys who can skate

It's October. There are a lot of good teams (and players) that play poorly, and a lot of poor teams (and players) that play well in October every year. What we've seen from the Sabres is encouraging so far, but I am just as unexcited as I was "not mad" after the opener.

I must have missed something because I don't remember him saying anything. He wasn't around for locker clean out day, as per the article he wrote, he was already at a rehab facility. Chad Johnson trashed the team on his way out.

Lehner actually said how Botterill has checked in with him even since he's no longer with the team. Doesn't sound like a guy with sour grapes IMO. He was actually grateful to JB for allowing him to be able to get a fresh start somewhere as well.

He's got a 72.8% completion percentage this year so far combined with last year, while throwing for 281 yards a game in his 38 and 39 year old seasons.

Edit: It's 73.5%, and 285 yards per game including tonight's game.
