I'll give Uggie credit, when he is passionate about something, he certainly goes the length to convince himself its the BEST way....

Tavares will NOT be a maple leaf, he will NOT take a discount to play for his home team, who cares about that bla bla bla...

- mel_vin

Never said that. I said that the odds were against him doing it based on the history of no other player in his position leaving their original team the way he did. I never said it was impossible, I said it was highly unlikely. There's a big difference.

He's not. He had no camp, came off an injury, played on a poop team, lost a baby, had a teammate's wife attack him for it and still outscored most defensemen last year. He's in his prime, he's won two Norris trophies and every single Norris winner of the past 30 years has gone to the Cup Finals and the vast majority of them have won the Cup. It absolutely is a huge deal to have a guy like that on your team. He almost got his poop Ottawa team to the Finals by himself.

the Karlsson ship has sailed. Leafs could not have signed him and then kept Marner and Matthews.

your go to next is Hamilton

he was JUST acquired at relatively high cost by Carolina - who pretty obviously are trying to manage costs... (meaning playing salaries) so - any offer for Hamilton that includes Nylander would need to see the Leafs eating some other player salary...

so perhaps look elsewhere - meaning don't mentioned Karlsson ever again - because you simply don't seem to comprehend that the Leafs could not have resigned Karlsson and kept their other assets.

Karlsson not feasible for Leafs (repeat approx. 200 times)

It’s not a video game

San Jose paid nothing for him because nobody else out there was making a good offer and Ottawa ran out of time to move him (something the Leafs could have exploited) and because nobody wanted a rental.

- Unholy_Goalie

Or nobody else was foolish enough to give into Ottawa's demands, knowing full aware that an injury to an ANKLE is something that is hard to overcome, especially when your job is DEFENSE.

San Jose was okay with either option and will probably sign him to 8 years after the trade deadline.
- Unholy_Goalie

Like JT NOT coming to Toronto as per you, lets see how this rolls out as the season pans out.

Would I rather have Drew Doughty? Absolutely. But LA isn't moving him. In fact, nobody is moving anybody like Karlsson and that's why the Leafs missed a huge opportunity to throw their hat into that ring because it so rarely becomes available.
- Unholy_Goalie

Ottawa was trying to move Karlsson for how long?? Teams were hesitant purely based on the injury, or else that fiasco wouldnt have lasted that long.

Plus minus.

Played in Ottawa.

Completely ignore the fact that if you look at total goals for and total goals against, he's always generated way more goals for than goals against.

- Unholy_Goalie

Then why the minus? Doing it all on the PP?

That's not going to struggle this year.

Christ don't bring that up again. UGtard at his finest. 2 solid months from 1-3 in the morning of how Tavares will not sign for the Leafs. As per, completely barking up the wrong tree.

Leafs could totally fit 3 11m cap hits, and an 8.5m cap hit. Who cares if 4 players take more than half the cap.

The ankle is fine. The price wasn't because of the ankle, it was the lack of an extension and a lack of good offers from other teams and Ottawa wanting to get rid of him and not wait any longer and him not wanting to play for them anymore because they're a poop organization top to bottom.

My.02 on Nylander hold out.
I think in his heart the kid wants to be a centre.
JT signing here basically killed that dream in Toronto.
He's saying the all right things publicly But I suspect Willie may be trying to force a trade.

It'll be Hamilton now. 2 months of Hamilton. Solidly. Proposing trades that should happen (forget thinking about what Carolina says). Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

The minus is because he played for a (frank)ing horrible team in Ottawa.

In 2016/2017, even still on a poop team, he was on the ice for 112 goals for and 85 against. Considering the ice time he plays and the general pooptiness of the Senators, that's very good.

Baloney Mahoney....bah who we kidding, you are Proctor on this topic.

If that were truly the case Ottawa could have easily called up some other GMs that tried and said hey member that deal, lets do it.

See what I did there?? made a baseless assumption. Check mate.
