Centers are worth more than wingers. A potential #1 center may get you a potential #1 defender. A top line winger, unless they're a superstar, is less likely to fetch one of those other players imo.

But I do agree he could be the central piece in a deal, especially if he got signed to a bridge deal or something. Assuming the right circumstances and team comes along.

Considering how Gardiner has played so far (admittedly in only 3 games), I'm thinking UG might've had the right of it. Gardiner and our 1st to move up to a spot we could've taken Bouchard might have been worth it.

Although I do like Sandin's game, so there's that.

It's really a strange day when i have to come in and defend Nylander.
I don't think he is in the franchise/elite class (matthews, tavares, marner), but he is one hell of a top6 player that compliments matthews and potentially tavares really really well.
At this point- unless it's provorov - there aren't many dmen i would like to trade nylander for in a 1 for 1.
Dubas should trade the likes of brown, johnsson, gardiner, 1st/2nd round picks to get help on d - the nylander return type of d-men obviously arent available..

Leafs still need:
a 2nd line lw (marleau needs to be back with kadri) for matthews,
and 1-2 top4 dmen
and a backup goalie.
