The defense will come around - Reilly looking much stronger than the rest. Organization is doing things right - in the bad old days - Liljegren and Sandin would have been rushed to service. Now the Leafs can slow play it. There will also likely be $5 -$7 million of cap space at the deadline. Lots of cash to add a significant rental this year.

I think that is going to be the plan. Don't rush. If someone comes available unexpectedly at some point they have the room and the assets to make a play. At the deadline they will have loads of cash to add a big piece for this year.

People have short memories...The Leafs played EXACTLY like this in October last season (Bad goaltending, given up a lot of goals).
Jan 1st-on, they allowed the lowest GA in the East. Goaltending+defensive play will get better and imo, scoring will too.

I'm just messing around, anyone who took any of that serious needs to lighten up

I am confident that this will be a good season to enjoy for Leaf fans. Only blemish will be listening to diehard Nucks fan Jim Hughson (and full-time idiot) call games.

The only really rental is Edler...at least the only one capable of playing top 4 mins. There are some players in two year deals however who could be in play like Faulk.

Gotta wonder if Willie ends up getting moved in a deal for a D...then the Leafs can look at adding a winger at the deadline. There are many of them.

Nyqvist, Panarin, Stone, Eberle, ect

Do you think Matthews heard the crowd after Kane's goal?

I actually hope Auston keeps that sort of confidence up - I like it.

Goals are always up for every team

Carolina won a 8-5 game....Carolina. A team with horrible forwards but great D

Their forwards are a lot better this season. Aho and tervainen especially. They have made some great trades (zykov) and drafted really well up front. Wall mark, necas.
And they pretty much have the next kovalchuk in svechtnikov.

That was such a fun game last night. Yes, the 80's was far better hockey.

Every team in the league has a few good forwards

When you compare them they are in the bottom half of the league easily.

Aho has been better than nylander. I'm pretty sure you are the same guy who told me the jets werent going anywhere 2 years ago...am I wrong?
There are 15 teams in the league with 3 60 point guys under the age of 24?

Dude. Come on.

Two years ago they had One. One player to reach over 50 points. And that player is now gone(Skinner)

Last year they had only three players over 50 points.

0 guys over 30 goals.

They have no one that will be close to a PPG. It’s no secret that the Canes have an offence that is close to the bottom of the league. It’s not hard to see that

you don't see aho and svechnikov as future ppg players? Aho hit 65 at 20 yo.
And as I said, this isn't the same canes team up front as two years ago, and last year, they didn't have necas zykov or svechnikov.

Re-watched the 3 games played so far. 47 stretch pass attempts. 29 led to turnovers. 21 of those t/o’s led to sustained pressure in the Leafs’ zone. Of those 47 attempts there were no Leaf forwards on the Leafs side of the center.

Let's be honest though, neither of the wins felt good. I personally aged 6 months watching the three games so far.

I've said it a few times pre-season and don't think I had any agrees. Leafs will finish with two 40 goals centers this year.

Cool, those players have proved nothing.

But you are right they lost their only 30 goal scorer in Skinner...so they aren’t the same team. I doubt those new players can substitute right away for the loss of Skinner.
