Since the Leafs are giving up more 3 on 1 rushes than 2 on 1 rushes, does that make them even man rushes?

Not quite there yet, but once we get to 4-on-1s we're laughing.

Except the Leafs have won Stanley Cups when the league had more than six teams.

Fact.

Pffft.....six to eight still equals a division title

Would you like to talk about the two Stanley Cups Toronto has won by defeating Vancouver in the finals?

I'm totally jelly.

I remember growing up, playing hockey on the frozen ponds that dot the Canadian landscape.

My friends and I pretending we were NHL players, playing in that important game to lock up the President's Trophy.

Then, when our moms called us in for dinner, no one would take in the imaginary President's Trophy, because of course touching even an imaginary trophy would bring on a curse...

Had a quick gander around HB this morning. Currently talking about the Laffs in the Nucks, Sabres, Flyers, Penguins and Islanders threads.

Laffs are irrelevant

We used a rusty President's Choice coffee tin as our cup, but I too wouldn't dare touch it.

One kid did and cut his finger, had to get a tetanus shot, and so the legend was born.

My thinking was that the Leafs should have kept McElhenny because he was a good backup. Let Andersen be number one. Have MakeASavey know his role.

And Sparks sucks.

- Atomic Wedgie

And Dubas thinking was - it is a backup goalie position, and the AHL team he was in charge of won a championship - what better way to motivate young players on your farm team than to show it is actually possible to make the big club if you do well. Sparks was the best goalie in the AHL last year - no rocket science here.

He played fine up until that 5v5 goal (including keeping us alive for the first 10 straight saves he made in the 1st), then couldn't close it out.

Not really that worried. Look around the league: goalies be getting lit, October is crazy town as usual while teams find their rhythm.

He just needs to be average with this offense: there won't be many 1-0/2-1 games in Toronto's future this year.

Last nights game is why I watch most of the Leafs games and seldom watch the Sabres play. I'm Jealous that the Leaf fans have such an exiting team

I tried watching a Wild vs Ducks game once. (frank) me, it was hard. I have no idea what Wild fans talk about

Things change - Matthews won a Calder, Leafs are a good team, Canucks not so much. No Leaf fan wants to hear about the Presidents cup - While Leafs are looking to contend, this season, Nucks fans will have to make do with selecting between 5th and 15th in the draft next June. While we are enjoying the ride, you can join your buddies thinking, my oh my "this smells like ass"

Do you think Matthews heard the crowd after Kane's goal?

I actually hope Auston keeps that sort of confidence up - I like it.

The defense will come around - Reilly looking much stronger than the rest. Organization is doing things right - in the bad old days - Liljegren and Sandin would have been rushed to service. Now the Leafs can slow play it. There will also likely be $5 -$7 million of cap space at the deadline. Lots of cash to add a significant rental this year.

People have short memories...The Leafs played EXACTLY like this in October last season (Bad goaltending, given up a lot of goals).
Jan 1st-on, they allowed the lowest GA in the East. Goaltending+defensive play will get better and imo, scoring will too.
