Schenn is arguably the worst dman in the NHL.

Which makes me very sad.

Better defensively, but completely different level offensively.

Should definitely stay on that line, over Ennis. If he and Matthews click, maybe even play Nylander with Kadri to make the forward group even more unfair.

- Feeling Glucky?

8 mill 3rd line winger even makes it look worse. 6.5 or maybe a bit more or show him the door. With the Leafs luck it will turn out he was just a product of playing with Mathews.

Cool.
Still better than most D we have and the average to meh d in the ahl

- Fakepartofme

He’d be fighting with Marincin for the 6th spot.

He’s really bad, man.

He’s 2017/2018 Zaitsev, but with easier matchups.

on the bright side, reilly is looking like a solid number 1.

As for kap, i think he's always felt he was the one who got left behind when nylander and marner made the team 2 years ago. He's always felt he was as good as nylander, and I think its fueled him to do everything possible to be better defensively. I see a very complete player in the making, just like his pops.

Slow playing Kapanen was a good move. Sign him to a team friendly deal ASAP. Willy looking more an more like a bridge deal Advantage totally with the Leafs.

Does anyone remember when Islander fans were talking about how terrible Tavares is and what an awful contract Dubas made in signing him? So salty

1) Biggs easily the worst bust - never played a game in the NHL and the picks we traded for him turned into Richard Rakell and John Gibson

2) Gauthier - Mantha went the pick before looks good, Gauthier looking like Peter Holland Light these days

3) Schenn - horrible pick that we moved for JVR - so it worked out in the end.

The problem with Kapanen is his brain/hands can’t keep up with his feet.

He gets himself into amazing positions constantly thanks to his speed, but flubs so so so much.

Seems like a “all the tools, but no toolbox” kinda guy. Expect him to have a career as a middle sixer, with a couple of big seasons, that trick someone into paying too much for him.

Kap has plenty of finish

He'll come back down to earth soon, this 218 pt pace isnt sustainable.

Never a fan of the Gauthier/Biggs picks. When the best thing they can say for a guy projected to go in the first round is that they’re a lock for a 3rd/4th line role... odds are they won’t even manage that. It’s the prospect kiss of death.

I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong I like Nylander alot but he is solt as butter and has never been in the corner to fight for a puck ever. If Kap plays with Mathews he is easily posting 40-50 points or so. 10 less points but more defensively sound for alot less cabbage. You gotta at least look at the thought of using Nylander to upgrade the back end.

Nylander's defensive prowess shows up in the neutral zone, which the Leafs could use right now.

Yeah, though hopefully the Leafs can sign him to a fair deal and not some inflated contract. Hyman/Brown style.

The good thing about Kap is that he brings something that other fwds dont so they can use him on the PK and in other situations. Babcock has said a few times that Kap has to find a way to be useful if he wants to make the team which I think is a way of saying he's not as skilled as Nylander or Marner but he's still a good player. He's done that so he's in a good position as a regular right now, and hopefully he keeps working on his game to get to the next level.

Babcock on promoting Kapanen: "Kappy is another big body. We'd like him to decide he wants to play like Hyman, that's what we'd like him to decide to do. Get to the net, be on the inside all the time, bring it every single night. If he can do that, he can play a big part."

pretty much what you're saying. I prefer to keep nylander and kap.
