Aĺthough his skating needs some improvement, he had a wrist injury last season.
His troubles this early in the season, are not much dissimilar to Brock, who is also coming off a wrist injury and isn't the best of skaters. Imo.

This is the funniest comparison I've head in a while, thanks.

Better net front presence for tips & garbage goals than Gaunce. Also can shoot better. Projecting as a top 9 winger at best who needs time to figure out how to fit in. Working on skating is standard & attention to the details.

Working on skating is probably 70% of all junior players.

Two players with wrist injuries and aren't very good at skating is a bad comparison?

Red Wings had a very nice draft wish we had one like that

I guess signing guys who are already declining to lengthy and over priced contracts isn’t a good strategy for generating additional draft picks?

well not actually making trades for draft picks seems to be the biggest hurdle.

Who do we sign that gets traded for 2nds & 3rds? Later pick aren’t a big deal unless packaged to move up and again where do all these maybe picks play?

Sutter Tanev Edler Beagle about the only possibilities to get us any pick that is worth trading for & difficult at that for a fair return.

Thanks Carol, nice review of both games, hope you are having a relaxing long weekend with plenty of hot cocoa

Loved the Daigle comparison (unintentional I’m sure)

Also loved hearing about RJ’s win first mentality down on the farm. One rhetoric on these boards that makes me laugh is about how every prospect who doesn’t make the Cancucks is going to go down to the farm and “play big minutes”. The reality is, the big minutes still get played by the players who give the team the best chance to win, which at this point is Gaunce and Boucher and not Lind, Gadjovich, Palmu etc.

I’m not crying. You said how nice it would be to go into the draft with the kind of picks like Detroit. How do you think they got those picks, was it magic? Sending Gagner to the Comets just proves how bad this management group is at working the free agent market, because has Gagner not only not lived up to the 3 year deal, they don’t even get him playing on their own farm team.

What I find preposterous is, when someone makes an opinionated comment, like the one i made, and other commentors won't take their blinders off, and actually think about the comparison that has been made.

Tatar was not a UFA...that’s ridiculous
McPhee doesn’t allow all GM’s to fleece him.
Brendan Smith to NYR for a 2nd & 3rd.
Another non UFA.
Mrazek for 2 conditional picks.
Hextall did nothing right.
Just proves not much.

Where are these UFA’s flips you speak of.

Goldobin for Hansen looks ok
Dahlen for Burrows also
Leipsic for Holm
Motte for Vanek

All something for not much but also all are minor deals. Wait til we have the right assets to trade out when we are better. Still our Pro scouts are nothing special i agree.

Thomas Vanek

Boom female dog

Also Phillip Holm

If you want to acquire more picks for the draft, which seems like something a team that is trying to rebuild would want to do, you need to have something other teams would want to trade for. Sam Gagner, Ryan Miller, Radim Vrbata, Jay Beagle, Antoine Roussel so far have not been players that other teams want to acquire, and I honestly can’t see that changing with the last two guys. Since the team does not have any existing players that other teams want to acquire, and there is a want for additional picks, I’m not sure where else you are going to get these picks.

Well Goldobin (AHL), Leipsic (NHL) and Motte (NHL) were all playing professional hockey in North America when they were acquired and Dahlen was playing where, 2nd tier in Sweden, which technically is pro hockey I guess. So he has you there.
