I agree, people underestimate that.

2 more hours playing with an extra man helps

- Santo_44

Is that actually how much more time Laine has had on the man advantage, or are you guys over exaggerating?

That is the actual amount. About 1 hr 56 mins more with the man advantage

Have to say it feels like the line combo's have poor chemistry.

If Matthews doesn't do everything, his line sucks... get rid of Ennis. Put Hyman back in that spot...

Put Marleau with Kadri

Put Kap with Tavares and Marnier

And someone tell Gardiner to get his head out of his ass. I can tell he's a new dad. Looks sleepy out there...

- Hockey_Reverend

exactly what I said last night.

Mathews with Hyman and Brown (their rookie initial line-up)
Tavares with Kapanen/Leivo and Marner
Kadri with Marleau and Leivo/Kapanen
Lindholm with theGoat and Johnsson

sit Ennis down

insert Holl for Oz.... (Holl is from Chicago I believe)...

shake things up a bit

Leafs are about to explode offensively..

First game on the road

Coming off an embarrassing loss to the provincial rivals

Sparks in net

First back-to-back so they're probably a little tired

Yes to Kap, no to Ennis. He was unbearable to watch last night.
- gravyface

Ennis is flashy because he's little and quick...but he gets knocked off the puck SO easily and SO regularly.... there's no chance for Marleau and Matthews to establish any cycle with Ennis on the wing.

Kapanen (to me) looked very interested last night, was starting to get more aggressive...

when most looked like they'd had a pre-game cocktail.

I like shaking up the lineup a bit, but if someone needs to sit, it's Brown.
He's been straight out horrible these 2 games.

I would add Gauthier, and sit Brown or Johnsson for next game.
Johnsson

Hyman - Matthews - Kapanen.
Kadri - Tavares - Marner
Marleau - Gauthier - Leivo
Ennis - Lindholm - Brown/Johnsson

play top 2 lines 22-24mins+ a night.

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

I stilll don't think Kap has a whole lot of creativity to show.
The same thing could easily be said about Johnsson: he has more skill than a 4th liner but doesn't have the line mates to get consistent points.
Kap will move up in the lineup and get some points. But i still think you guys are overrating him.

- UsernameUnknown

what i don't understand is the Ennis thing... yes - he scored 20 goals in the NHL what 5 years ago.... Brown scored 20 playing a half season with Matthews and 1/2 with Kadri.

I'd rather see Brown, or Johnsson or Kapanen get a shot at that spot - then some retread who gets knocked off the puck so easily.

If you make the assumption that the Leafs don't sign Nylander or they trade him- then playing Ennis there makes even less sense. Its like asking Matthews and Marleau to carry around a 160lb bag.

are you calling the best defenseman on the planet "Jakey Gardiner" a traitor?

Gauthier centering the 3rd line .. that line won’t be doing much offensively.

Kadri line hasn't done much offensively either.
So maybe a bit of a different look might help.
I was suprised that the Leafs dumped so many pucks in..

It’s been two games and Gauthier isn’t going to help anyone offensively.. idk it’s a long season. I like what they’re doing with Kadri, putting him with Matthews or Tavares wing at times. Matthews needs some high skill on his line as he doesn’t have much.

They should trade for Klim Kostin.

Brown for Klim.

Make him a C/LW and play him with Kadri.. If Leafs need a spark they can put Kadri on Matthews or Tavares line and let Kostin play the 3C. Leafs keep getting their asses kicked in the face-off circle so another natural C would be nice to have.

Yeah not really at all. Not a fan of what the leafs are doing with their breakouts, stretching forwards so much.
