Nice to see the guy that just signed for 11 million giving the younger guys contract advice.............
I wonder if that's the fine print in his contract?
Seriously, he's played 1 game for the club & basically telling them to take less so he can try & win a Cup?
What a guy! |

I agree. Tavares is all world all class. Its why Matthews called and convinced him to come here. Hes well respected in this city and organization.

I think hes sayin that because Tavares last contract saw him getting 5.5 million a year and being underpaid, that Nylander can and will make alot more when he proves himself and becomes a ufa, like he did.
or hes just trolling and should be banned. |

I'm talking hockey which apparently you guys don't appreciate.
If I'm Tavares who just signed for 11 million to a new team, I wouldn't be telling the young guys to take discounts to stay in his team to try win a cup. It's not that hard to understand. Tavares signing previous contracts has zero to do with what contracts are signed today. If Tavares contracts were with the Leafs, then maybe there'd be some comparison - but that wasn't so.
Might be a bad thing, or it might persuade the young guys to takè less. But it's risky. |

Tavares can say what he wants. He said what must of us feel. He earned the right to sign his big contract. Thus far, the guy sitting out has not.

Man. I hate the Sens.
I have a feeling the 4th line contributes tonight. 4-2 Leafs final.
Tomorrow night, Sparks vs Hawks. A bit worried. |

We disagree.
In regards to the contract, I think the NHL is getting younger quick. These big contracts are being paid to older players for their past work & in my opinion a lot won't earn that payday by that contracts end. There's a few out there.
The young guys want to be paid for their work they will give, yes it's a risk but so is giving out huge contracts to older players. Why shouldn't guys that are pointing towards being high end be paid that way? Why do organisations just basically give older players free money because they've been good in the past? |

Aussie, that's the way things work... not just in NHL, but also every office near you. Everyone who is married knows how more expensive a wife gets with every year, while the bed-production drops. |

Not so sure my Deutscher friend. Maybe American/Canadian sports do, but outside I can't say that because in Australian sports the contracts aren't that long nor is that type of money around. Back ended careers see a decline in value not an increase. |

Excellent effort all round. Great to see Pettersson bag one. Gonna be a hell of a player. The NHL is much better when the Nucks are competitive. Still slightly annoyed we had 9 bottom 6 forwards but we're getting there.
We've been saying forever, looks like Jimbo is finally listenng to us, they have to start drafting the likes of EP and Hughes instead of OJ and JV with those high picks to turn this around.
Comets are gonna dominate this year. Lots of talent coming through. |
