I need Boeser to get going in my keeper pool.

Unfortunately, he's in danger of having the kind of sophomore slump that Nucks fans predicted Matthews, Marner and Nylander would have.

Excellent effort all round. Great to see Pettersson bag one. Gonna be a hell of a player. The NHL is much better when the Nucks are competitive. Still slightly annoyed we had 9 bottom 6 forwards but we're getting there.

We've been saying forever, looks like Jimbo is finally listenng to us, they have to start drafting the likes of EP and Hughes instead of OJ and JV with those high picks to turn this around.

Comets are gonna dominate this year. Lots of talent coming through.

- walshyleafsfan

Benning is an idiot, that's Judd Brackett telling him what to do, it's just that he's now listening to him after he (frank)ed up the JV pick and to a lesser degree the OJ pick.

He'll get going as soon as he gets the first one, the floodgates will then open!

The "advice" reads indeed a little funny considering the contract he signed recently.

So I keep him in my fantasy team? He's the only 1 on zero so far although Provarov is -1 I think!

John Tavares has advice for three Toronto Maple Leafs teammates in their negotiations as restricted free agents.

"Just keep your energy and focus on the ice, just don't change who you are,"

You've come to this point for a reason, been very successful for a long time, and in a short period of time here in the NHL and at such a young age it's very impressive.

"I think just keep your focus on doing what you do every day and knowing you're very fortunate to play in the NHL and have this opportunity.

Tavares said he got the sense when talking to Maple Leafs during his free agency that they were willing to buy in from a financial perspective to keep the team together.

There's not a doubt in this locker room, I think everyone is buying in and wants to buy in to what's going on here," the 28-year-old center said. "I certainly saw that talking to a lot of the players during the interview process. I certainly got that sense and why I felt strongly why things can work here

He clearly says take less money. I didn't but (frank) ya,you should.

It's right there in black and white.

Thats indeed what i read as well...

He took 1/7th of the cap for himself - lockout-insured in basically just signing-bonuses, and the other 22 players should take a discount.

...and, you're ignoring, or unaware, of the part about Tavares taking less as well.

I just wish he wasn't racist and sexist while saying it. I feel he could've gone about it better.

To be honest, I don't think that matters to people who aren't keen on the Laffs.

I reached on him and took him earlier than perhaps I should have.

It's been one game though, so I'm not too worried.

Ovie still doing what he does so far for me.

Yes I'm sure if it was an 8m or 9m contract you could put justification in saying that. It's 11 million big ones - 1 of the biggest contracts in the NHL. He may have left 250k or even 500k on the table but when you look at 11 million, that probably gets taken in taxes anyway. So you're saying he took a hometown discount? I'm sure the others will/should follow his lead.

Take it how you want to. I know I will.

That's naive. The reports were that he was offered as much as 12 per year ....and perhaps by the Islanders. If so he took 77 Milly instead of 96. He left anywhere from 10-20 million on the table to try to win with the Leafs. But you keep taking it however you will.
