. . . while insisting that none of the Leafs players are in the top 20 players in the league and are all way overrated.

so there you go... call Nylander offer him the same.

then before he has a chance to answer... tell him he's being dealt for Lindholm if he doesn't sign.

signing bonus is HoHo's hat... washed.

How is the market for Marner more than the market for Kucherov, Stamkos, Sheifiefeliiee, Barkov, Seguin?

I don't understand the massive jump of salaries for Leafs players, despite there being extremely similar players out there to compare.

- walshyleafsfan

Exactly why none of them have signed a new deal!

PS... I think we're going to need more hats!

What else do the Leafs haters have, other than grasping at straws? Leafs suck but you can't afford Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Nylander, Andersen, Kadri, Rielly and Gardiner, because Leafs suck..

this whole theme is entirely a fabrication of the toronto media covering the Leafs...

brainless speculation...

blame Dreger and LeBrun... most of the crap is flowing freely from their "sources"... which they get from their phones apparently... note that their phones are noticeably close to the ass

I don't think that anybody here is suggesting that he does

including players that signed contracts over 4 or 5 years ago is not fair.

Post what the % of the cap hit was when they signed it.
Example. Jamie benn signed for 5.2 when the cap was 65 mil. which is 8%

8% of the cap today is 6.4

Also Nylander has out produced Benn at the same age

- senstroll

the range is 5.6% to 8%. but this whole percentage of the cap BS is just a lazy way for bad agents to get pay increases without having to justify money with stats.

If the cap goes up 2 million (2.5%), 23 roster players cannot ask for a 2.5% increase on their previous salary/other player's salary. The math doesn't math.

You tweakers are tweaking hard over this Nylander non-issue, shocker. Why don't you people get jobs, do some tai chi down by the shore or something.

No one is twerking on Nylander, but there is a fear that he will get traded if this contract dispute drags on longer.

I want him, and not just on the Leafs roster.

But here's the rub.

With Nylander - He has no leverage. Non whatsoever. The system is set up for that to happen. Are people actually suggesting he sits out a year and not play in the NHL? Seriously, just go and play in Sweden? Russia? William Nylander? Then what when next year roles round? Back at the negotiation table. Does Nylander now have any leverage? Nope. Maybe he'll do this until he's 26. Maybe this is the 1st and only time this will happen? Or, is it more likely, he signs a bridge deal which has been suggested by a number of us multiple times. Then he can see what Matthews and Marner get and cash in with Horton/Marleau money.

Marner - People are petrified he's somehow going to crack 100 points. Last year, Kucherov, Giroux and McDavid cracked 100. Would it be weird to see Kucherov, McDavid, Giroux and Marner to be over 100? Some may say no, i say yes absolutely. God love Mitch, but he ain't the 4th highest scorer in the NHL this year

Matthews - Face of the Franchise - Auston, we got your boy Tavares to sign for us. It'll mean that you will get easier matchups from time to time. No longer will ovther teams have the decision of matching up against you or Tyler Bozak. It'll be you or Judas. He's been around a while, has 622 points in 670 games, earned his free agency after playing for a poop show his whole career. He makes 11m. How does 11m sound to you? Then, when you're his age you can do it all over again.

I know people either love or hate the Leafs, so you'll get all sorts of posts, but some of these salaries people are throwing around (assuming i because they're Leafs players) is insane. For some reason, they think Leafs should have 4 of the top 15 paid players in the NHL.

I'm not in any hurry to run him out of town... but if there's a team out there that values him enough to garner a nice up and coming top 4 defender... I think you have to look at it.

I don't know that it is, but it might be.

I would prefer they can sign them all now, and be rid of the drama

Better than trying to get to an internal budget of $634.72 for your top 4 forwards.

fine with this... although I really can only gauge it by looking at Ottawa's top 3

Ryan 7.2
Duchene 6.0 (but will be looking for more in July2019)
Stone 7.3
Karlsson at 11 (Doughty money) 31M for top 4.... 33 with a resigned Duchene...

who would you rather have

Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Nylander
or
Karlsson, Ryan, Duchene and Stone

seems pretty clear to me

Did some member of the (frank)ing media actually ask Matthews what he has told his agent.

For (frank) sakes.
