Listen, I want Toews to do well, very well. I give Anderson credit he made a ton of big saves, but Ottawa is expansion team bad and the fact we chased a tying goal deep into the third with double shifting Kane is concerning.

Toews absolutely looked like he was making plays out there. I hope it just wasnt false confidence because a lot of borderline NHL players were just giving him too much credit and time/space the veteran legits wont be

yep...he righted the ship and gave them a chance and they took it...could have easily been 5-2 after 2...

the team also played much better in the 3rd...

In my defense, basically 100% of the time a person wants to see one player in instead of another player, its because that person thinks the other player is bad. I assumed.

There were a few major chances Anderson turned away as well. Toews breakaway early, a few two on ones, and a bunch of chances on the man advantage. Game could have blown open either way

Martinsen is an AHL player, Hayden is a young guy with some upside. Martinsen lost the puck several times tonight on clearing plays, he's just not a good player. He checks, but so does Hayden.

I don't like Schmaltz as a center. He may be a center someday and maybe he has to play there a year to figure it out. But it will be awful to watch. He floats on both ends of the ice. Shies away from contact. Makes poor pass or shoot decisions. Is lousy at face offs. Maybe the Hawks are not going anywhere this year and they want to give Schmaltz a chance to develop into a center. But right now it is like Teravainen in 2014/15 (and yes I know he scored a few important goals in the playoffs).

I don't like Kruger on the wing.

Move AA between Schmaltz and Kane.

I like the top line.

Third line Saad, Kampf Hayden

4th line Kunitz, Kruger, Martinsen

Cam Ward can only be blamed for the 3rd goal.
