I'll be honest, I'm watching Canucks-Flames right now and two things.
Van fans might be right about Pettersson.
Tanev really would look great next to Rielly. No chance for Nylander though so (frank) off. - Blazed
Tanev is ok but tends to be a band aid.
If it Greedlander holds out till Dec (hope not) Lubeass needs to trade him and Freddie for Breadman, Bob and a first. |

Hard no.
Now I'm going to go off the deep end and say hell I'd take Gudbranson as Polak 2.0 |

Marchand saved Eller from the embarrassment of getting beat up by his own teammates. |

Extended celebration of Caps 7th goal from far side of the ice, continuing on right past the Bruins bench. Then Marchand filled him in. |

Yes Guy.
Gudbranson sooner, then at the deadline Polak comes back as per Babs IMO...
Maybe grab Gudas too. |

Maybe we can get Luke Schenn back too! Our D is gonna be so sic. Well, either that, or our D will make me sick. |

Fair enough.
I do believe the Leafs lack a mean SOB that the kids know will deal with a Gudbranson or Wilson when they are running around though.

I agree with this but only if that player is a guy who plays on a regular line and not a Matt Martin type. |

Did anyone else think Hainsey, Johnsson and Gardiner were terrible tonight? |

Yes. Hainsey is not fleet footed. He’s chased a lot of d zone plays from behind other guy faster
Johnson does not have his confidence
And gardiner is often absent minded |

Can't see wtf is wrong about that. That's how we did it - and how we sometimes got burned...! |

obviously he wouldnt do it alone. Tanev + to get the deal done.
And both teams seriously win the trade.
Provided the + isnt absurd.
But personally, I'd be working the phones making this deal work. |

Yes.
But we have to hope Hainsey is a 6/7 by the end of the year by progression of the kids and/or help from Kyle. He has value in that role.
Hope I'm wrong but it looks like the pan Johnsson flashed in is lacking Sparks this year.
Gardiner should be traded for Myers (would work for both teams and players) |

Snakevares scored.
Matthews scored twice.
Andersen was great.
Leafs win.
Nothing else matters. - Steven_Seagull
exactly...
Leafs played very uninspired - not really surprising given they were playing the Habnots.
played like poop - still won
must be a good team!
and Ennis sucks. (which I said all preseason) he did precisely nadda this evening to help Matthews in any way. |

wow - this is a real change of pace for Canucklehead...
usually we are forced to endure the absolutely non-sensical Nylander + 1st + 2nd for Tanev and a boat anchor contract type offers.
shocking actually, that the Leafs don't have to throw Marner in the "even things out"

Far from it. The Leafs have a habit of playing poorly and winning because of talent, not because of effort. It's a bad habit, the core of this team has done it for the past couple years and it's not good. It's need improvement. - Unholy_Goalie
Yeah and Matthews has to work harder on his shot. Pitiful I say. |

That's why I preferred a Brouwer type over Ennis. A 4th liner who can occasionally play a regular shift in the top-six, big body, throws his weight around, can drop the gloves if he has to, stands in front of the net etc.
They're going to have to draft one because the Schenns and the Simmons guys are hard to acquire and find. |

Matthews actually said that himself after his first or second season, one of the analysts said it during one of the breaks. And he improved. He's a student of the game. He's not part of the problem. But the team in general has this way of playing that is too relaxed. It's almost as if they take the night off because one of the stars will bail them out. Or Andersen. Until the playoffs roll around and it doesn't work anymore. |

Nah never going to happen, not for Willie. It’s irrelevant what the plus could be because Vancouver would be getting the best player in the deal and it’s not the type of deal you trade a blue chipper for. |
