Good thing with leaf snipers they just need one shot to score because they got worked that entire third period and most of the game outside of the last half of the first period. 2 goals for Matthews and 1 for Tavares and they were both pretty much invisible. Gonna be a rude awakening when they go toe toe with teams that can actually score goals. Good ol schedule makers give them bottom feeders like Ottawa and Montreal to start every year. First 6 leaf games of the year are against teams that didn't make the playoffs last year. Gotta make sure they get a nice head start I guess hey. God I hate the leafs and everything about them.

I was reading that Tavares SN article and loved reading this one excert about Tavares confirming Matthews plans on staying in Toronto long term. So all the haters going on about how he gonna except an offer sheet or some crap can suck it.

From Tavares article: He needed to know that if he was signing for seven years, Matthews would be there with him. He had the GM’s assurances, but he wanted the player’s, too. So Tavares came right out and asked, one cornerstone to another. “He said 100 per cent without a doubt,” Tavares says. “I know how committed he is and how bad he wants to be here.”

Matthews confirms: “I just wanted to make sure he knew that myself, everybody else, wanted him here.”

We gotta watch Matthews play with Marleau and Ennis 5v5 all year?

The Leafs did not deserve to win that game the way they just took it easy most of the night but their high end talent just executed at crucial times. The Habs are a bad team with Price. There's no reason they should have outplayed and outshot the Leafs on the road.

There are teams in this league that win because of hard work and limited talent and teams that win in this league because of talent and limited hard work, but the championship winning teams are the talented teams that work hard. The Leafs have the talent but they really need to step it up in the effort department and start controlling games.
