Can't wait to see how Kaskisuo does with the marlies. Always thought this kid had potential, maybe now he can grow as a player. - viperxt
Thought I seen somewhere he was top 10 in Save Percentage in the AHL last year. Should be Alright. Sam Gagner is the Marlies new #1 Center too |

Exactly miss those days the only thing that's gotten better since then is the invention of yoga pants and pvr.
And the leafs are better. - TonkaPhaneuf
I wonder how many car accidents were caused by Yoga pants. |

The assumption is Pickard goes back on waivers but wouldnt it make more sense to keep pickard and put neuvirth on waivers? I like the guy but he is a Dipietro impersonator. Id take my chances with a guy thats more likely to finish the season healthy |

That's what I think most would do. HOWEVER, it depends on how much weight is put on Neuvirth "putting in his time" and/or if they think maybe the playoff performance from a few years ago is still in there somewhere... who knows. |

I can't believe we are now debating the Flyers' 2nd/3rd goalie dilemma.
And for the record, it doesn't matter what the Flyers decide: since it involves goalies, they will always make the wrong decision. |

Max Domi is back in the line-up tomorrow night so the most Leafy thing that will happen is that he will get a hat trick with his Dad in the stands! |

Who the frank watches hockey?
I wake up the next morning in my rental home and look at complex graphs posted by others on the internet, and then I post douchy opinions not grounded in actual hockey knowledge, backed by links to music videos - in a desperate attempt to distract from the fact that my writing is weak. - Atomic Wedgie

I thought about the idea of claiming him off waivers for about 7 seconds when it was reported he was waived. That cap hit. That horrible production. Marlies might not even want him. |

Make the canucks buy him out then sign him to a contract.
Man the Canucks waive Gagner but yet have 4 year deals with Beagle, Roussell and some other guy for too much money. FOUR YEAR DEALS?!?! Ridiculous. |

Usually quality playoff teams have backup goalies who can win them 10 reg season games.
Which is what mcbackup provided.
Do we think sparks can win 10 games?
If so, todays events arent an issue.
If not, then theres some concern. |

For four years?! Man it'll be 24 months or less and they will regret it. Which team needs to hit the cap floor in the coming years? Islanders want some grit? |

I know, it was stupid of them. They're just in tank mode and need bodies to fill the line-up and eat some cap space. |

I hope the leafs are trying to sign Kapanen and Johnsson to similar deals Brown got in length and a little less money. They are RFA as well and might as well get them locked in before dealing with Marner and Matthews. |

But 4 years?! That's far too long. They should have said "2 years or less" is our mantra this year. They didn't. It will hurt them going forward. |

I'd say many teams make the playoffs without an effective back-up but it comes at a price. The price is the starter plays 65+ games and runs the risk of overworking them. If that starter gets injured, a new problem arises.
McElhinney had a career year and he was 35. He should have been traded.
Can Sparks win 10 games? That's a pretty big unknown at the moment. I'm not a big fan of his at the NHL level. It's a risk to expect him to win 10+ games and even more importantly, play 25+ games and give Andersen more rest.
The Leafs have 12 back-to-back games and Sparks will be expected to play in all of them. It's the other 12 games he should be playing (versus bad teams) that he might not be trusted to play that will become an issue. |
