Moving up brown and kap affects their permanent lines. Dropping crappy ennis with austin doesnt mess up the lower lines and their chemistry.
Its only for a real game or two. - Fakepartofme

How does an AHL player loan work? I'm assuming the leafs pay Gagner but his caphit is still against the nucks? - HealthyScratch6
Canucks still pay him and take the cap hit. Just done so he can
Play near his family. |

Seems like 2 claimed goalies could've been tradeable assets. And now we're hoping unproven 5parks can replace Mcbackup's excellent play from last season. And if we have a goalie injury, we have to put the equipment manager in.

Trade for what, though? I can't imagine either was worth much. |

Are you kidding me?
Pickard was the organization's 2nd or 3rd best AHL goalie last year.
The Flyers thread thinks they just solved their goaltending woes.
Dubas needs to be fired. |

Really?
Doesnt matter what they would have been traded for, it would have been better than nothing.
But, im sure dubas and co didnt think they both would be picked up.
I mean, someone claiming pickard. Really?
Ah well. |

It's crazy to see the Leafs with the 3rd most cap space available. Granted, once Willie is signed they'll be back in the middle of the pack but still... |

They need to keep space for the bonus overages from Matthews/ Marner etc.... so it doesn’t get pushed to the year afters cap hit. They need to keep about 5 million available for this purpose. |

Sheesh enough noise about this...
This tells me there were NO calls made to the leafs regarding McBackup or Pickard availability, and teams dam well knew that the leafs brass would be putting people on waivers and more than likely the goalies...there was enough media coverage on what will the leafs do with all these goalies, gasp!
And you gotta go with youth. McBackup was a fine backup and did us well, but 35 years old is just that. Sparks, well he did help the Marlies get their cup, so you are going to risk waiving him, youth with recent championship win over a 35 year old that was previously waived from Columbus or wherever he came from?
I honestly dont see how this would/should have gone down any differently than it did other than runing with three goalies, which everyone had said bad idea.
Also they all preach decisions are colabrative with that mgmt group. Shanny, Dubie and Babs Im sure were ALL aware of the risks...I dont believe for a second that any of them are like, what they BOTH got claimed? |

It doesn't seem like too long ago when our goaltending situation included such greats as The Monster, The Reiminister of defense, Rynnas, Bernies, MacIntyre, Giguere, Scrivens, MacDonald, and Toskalol. Now we're the Mecca of Goalies where other teams come for waiver wire pickups to fix their goalie problems!
(Well not really, but it's a funny thought)
It's almost as crazy as the Leafs having Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Rielly, and signing Tavares as a FA. |

Exactly!
Dubas is smart enough at 32 to make it to GM of the Leafs (a claim non of his detractors can make)and has solid decision makers with him in the organization, and yet the brainiacs here think he didn’t realize what the options were or the outcome would likely be. |

The Leafs will win a Stanley Cup with either Dubas in charge or because of Dubas.
Note the time. |
