The Flyers can just waive him when Lyon is healthy and the Leafs can reclaim him. This might be extremely short term for Pickard and a pretty good move considering Stolarz and Elliott are returning from injuries, Neuvirth and Lyon are already out this season.

I'm considering it stop gap at the moment until I see what happens in the next couple weeks as our goalies get healthy.

- mayorofangrytown

no doubt...impossible to predict what happens now because it could be entirely different in 2-3 weeks. I do think it means Stolarz gets waived though

Plan

Step 1: acquire every goalie in the league
Step 2: ??????
Step 3: Profit

Jokes aside tho I've been saying the flyers should trade for Pickard for like 2 years now and yesterday said they should snag him off waivers so I'm actually pleased with this move. When everyone gets healthy one of him or Lyons or Stolie could get moved

What I would give to go back to the glory days where I was too busy posting about Barzal to expose myself to this embarrassment

Maybe the Flyers view Pickard as a more reliable goalie than Neuvy. Not like they knew Pickard was gonna be on waivers. Plans change.

Yup.

Elliott and Neuvirth as known NHL starters with health concerns.

Then you have, best to worse, for depth.
Pickard
Stolarz
Lyon

At worst, Pickard becomes the best depth goalie and at best he becomes a decent backup.

In the interest of being completely right about everything, I don't think that's true. He was rumored to be on the trade block for several weeks now and I think he was clearly 4th on the leafs depth chart

Cool read about Seattle expansion. Today will be the first step in finding out if something might happen for the 2020 season. I think it is in the Flyers' best interest for the draft to happen sooner than later.

Interesting that Weise is still practicing with the team. Wouldnt start dancing on his grave yet.

He is going to be sent down, but he could be back. Stolarz wouldn't clear by 5pm

If the Flyers waive Pickard and the Leafs claim him will TO have to waive him again to get him to the Marlies? I'm unsure of the rules after the reclaim. I know TO has the first claim on him.

Edit: looked it up. If the Leafs are the only claim then they can send him directly to the Marlies. If another team claims him then they need to keep him on the roster for 30 days just like a regular waiver claim.

Laughton, Lehtera, and Raffl. Weal and Weise were extras. JvR and Simmer on same line.

If the kids continue to develop well, I don't think I'd bring back any of them save for Laughton and perhaps Simmonds if they can work out a deal that both sides are happy with. I can see next years lines being something like:

G-Coots-TK
Linblom-Patrick-Voracek
JVR-Vorobyev-Simmonds or Allison
Laughton-Rubtsov-Aube-Kubel

- BiggE

It was probably stated, and I'll see it later, but I would bring back Raffl. I also think that Allison spends some time in the AHL. They like to slow-cook their prospects. Having said that -- He is playing at a higher level, so it's possible he can make the jump straight away - he does have NHL size right now.

Also -- off topic, but it annoys the crap out of me that I have to make Allison, Laczynski, JOB and Farabee in NHL 19. I understand why, tho.

Sweet, I was going to ask about that. Didn't like 46 on Vorboyev, maybe 13 would look nice on him.

I would love to see Sanheim in 32, Lindblom in 96 and Morin in 55.

I don't care about the goalie situation. It will work itself out. None of the guys they have available are going to sway the needle one way or another much until Hart nails down the position. One or two of the ones they have will have to step up until then. I liked Stolarz's upside and still do. The long term solution is as obvious as it gets though.

The only thing that still bothers me (besides the hole at defense that will be open until Myers fills it) is Lehtera over Weal. Hopefully it changes soon. IMO Weal played better and has more to offer. 21-40-12 was a pretty ideal 4th line to start the year. Rolls tho. Either way it is still a massively improved forward group over the last few years
