Can someone help me understand the love folks have for Pikard and why he's better than what we already have?

If all the UFA forwards leave, there will be three spots open in the top 12 for 19-20. The bolded guys won't be waiver exempt.

He has more experience and better AHL numbers than Stolarz and Lyon.

Has more NHL experience that Stolarz and Hart, and allows them to split time in the AHL to start. Basically, he's a warm body for the moment.

Now, what they do when Neuvirth/Lyon come back, who knows.

Edit: It's not a game changer, it was just the best option out there assuming they want Hart in the AHL.

Holy Sheeeeeet....
Gritty was the lead story on John Oliver's Last Week Tonight!
He needs work on the skating or he will dislocate a shoulder or whatever that is, falling that way.

No team will claim either of those guys off waivers. It would be a miracle.

The only 2 things that I think are written in stone for the next few weeks, assuming no more injuries, are Elliott in the NHL and Hart in the AHL. Who stays in the NHL and AHL between Neuvirth/Pickard/Stolarz/Lyon is a coin toss.

I would've preferred a claim of Jaskin, but oh well.

I didn't watch much of Pickard in Toronto, but obviously played behind a very good team. For me he is right in the same mix as Stolarz with more NHL experience and less injury history. I was looking forward to seeing Stolarz in the backup role, but w/e.

Smaller frame than Stolarz (obvi) but I think moves a bit better, or at least looks like he does. I suspect the move is more towards "security" as I am willing to bet they trust Pickard more than Stolarz with Elliott coming off of surgery and whatnot.

Seems crazy to me to have 6 goalies, but I don't doubt we will be losing one or two along the way. I wouldn't be surprised to lose Stolarz to Toronto

Pickard was one of the two goalies Hexy took to the World Champs when he was GM.

i had liked him. Was hoping they made a play fro him last year over Mrazek. I was actually thinking he would have been a nice upside type of option prior to getting Elliott.

I'm confident in saying no GM will ever pick Stolarz to play for Canada.

Sounds weird, but I am actually feeling pretty good with Picard backing up Elliott instead of Neurvirth or Stolarz...very warm inside. Has shown to be a pretty good backup.

that's uhhh...my point. he has a limited selection of goalies he can pick from when making that team so it isn't as if that means he loves the guy
