LE is the classic 3rd wheel IMO. His needs are as you say & he is not a liability so he can fit into the right role if given the right linemates. The big question is who those 2 will be & do we have them?

If Gagner isn’t driving the PP he isn’t of much use. 5v5 & defence he is non existent. He can only be a blocker for other players who need the TOI in an offensive role. We don’t hide him on the 4th line.

Chemistry is one thing i am huge on. I’ve coached competitive sports teams & found we got higher mileage & results making it a priority. Talent is always a big need but it has to gel to bare fruit.

It’s only money & til it effects us in a negative way idc that much. That said the future is where i will focus on as in prospects develop & impact our team in a big way.
