i'll be honest, i thought he was a good signing but thought the deal was too long.

i thought he'd come in, gets lots of pp and score enough to warrant some interest via trade route. on a 1 or 2 year deal, i was hoping to parlay it into useful assets.

(if it's going to be argued that no UFA a will sign unless you give them more term, i say, walk away. the team will suck regardless.)

anway, gagner did not work out. kudos to benning for being decisive and moving quickly.

In support of booner, which pains me to my loins , Gagner served his purpose. He filled a role until he was no longer useful. It doesnt look good that it was a single season.

Bring on the 31st place finish! I suspect we see Quinn Hughes in April. Next year is going to be the real fun year!

It does send a good message. I doubt a guy like LE wants to live and play in Utica vs Vancouver. If LE wasn’t as bad as it is I think he would have gone down.

Thx Carol not overly concerned with the 1-6 preseason record it is what it is.

Can't change predictions now so I'll stick with club finishing around 24th-25th spot overall. Gonna be a long year with some bright spots. Wherever that puts us in the division so be it.

Booner belongs nowhere in the same sentence as your loins(unless it's slowly simmered pork loins in a spaghetti sauce).

On a rebuilding team that's not a terrible deal... honestly how often do UFA's ever work out ? The Leafs are going to find that out in a couple years if not sooner with Tavares.
- Reveen.

i don't disagree about tavares that the deal could be an anchor in the latter half of the deal.

however, if i'm the leafs, i do that deal all day, every day.

leaving aside questions about their defence, they got a player that pushes them to contender status without having to give up pieces.

this is what i would like to see from the canucks. make runs at top tier UFAs when the young draft picks are able to contribute meaningfully. before that, no need to commit term to fringers or lower tier UFAs. the option is to walk away rather than get into a bidding war over a middle 6er.

in support of codes: we're pretty much arguing the same side but just yelling at each other.

bottom line: gagner was needed when signed, he's not anymore. thumbs up to benning for sending him down.

lol I tried to put the whole thing to rest pages and pages ago with Booner. We were in agreeance over Gagner being waived, and it somehow turned into "false narratives" and "assertions" and a bunch of other crap. I stopped caring about it a long time ago.

Thanks Carol

I'm glad that I was wrong about who goes down, excluding gaunce of course.

Last in the division
Last in the conference
2nd last in the league with only Ottawa being worst, lucky Colorado.

Again, I didnt claim that he signed him with the plan on waiving him this fall. Masterplan? You are lying. I have argued that he would have considered it a way out if the situation changed and it did... and he's waived. Hardly worthy of this narrative being floated through here that Benning never saw the situation changing with the emergence of his young players. Dumping him was open from the beginning I would have to imagine.

You know what I have on my side of the argument... Gagner was dumped in a heart beat... and Benning said he would do this... and he choose someone he replaced with new players both with UFA's and prospects.... and I'm sure you can expect the same with the 3 new vets that were added to the bottom 6... they will get dumped as well when the situation changes over the next few years... whether its next season or beyond.. my point all along is this was an option he recognized from the beginning. I did... so I'm he did.

I'm looking forward to 2019/20 when we have gagner, beagle, rousell and eriksson in the minors.

It will be interesting to see who will get waived or benched when Roussel is healthy. I personally think it's Granlunds spot to lose.

I do agree that it sends a message. I'm impressed that Benning did that and didn't send Motte down (easiest choice).

Was Gagner that bad in preseason ?

He was an oiler reject, never should have signed him.

Imagine if Gagner and Archie get claimed and then Motte gets injuried.

To wrap up today—how concerned are you about the Canucks' 1-6-0 record in preseason?

I am not concerned at all, in fact I think you could extrapolate those figures to mirror the upcoming season.

"Where do you think the *Canucks* will finish in the division, the conference and the league?"

I think they finish last in their division, last in their conference and 3rd last in the league.

Carol fulfilled your request from last blog, Jan Levine and season predictions, you could at least show some respect and put your comment towards answering the question.😁
