Jesus Christ if you honestly think I form my opinions on Benning from the media you’re clueless.

I’m a 50 something guy who played professional hockey for a couple years, thus I watch and understand what I perceive is good and bad.

I don’t like what they’ve done, as a general statement, there’s been some good things, as a whole because they didn’t have enough foresight to see the writing on the wall.

Of course there was a loud critical voice against management, that goes for all walks of life. But the news feeds weren’t as brutal with their reporting, we had Don Taylor and Neil McRae as the biggest mouth pieces, but generally reading the province or whatever rag of choice wasn’t as bad as the none stop verbal diarrhoea that happens here and other platforms like Botchford, Pass It To Bulis, and so on.

i've heard the gripes against the negative media and the whining know-it-all fans since i was a kid as well.

nothing has changed. only the voices have gotten louder. on all sides.

I wrote this morning about timelines, this is far from over but it’s a necessity in the building process.

Just stating I believe the Canucks are most likely five years away from truly being competitive.

I regretfully read all of the posts this morning. Bunch of cum guzzlers indeed. You idiots going to cry and scream every morning until Benning is gone? It’s going to be at least 10 months and possibly years. Can we talk about motte? Or Quinn Hughes? Mix up the convo? Hell, talk about your sh!tty hockey pool for awhile

Sorry for stealing your cum guzzler line. It just seemed so damn appropriate today. I could complain about Gaunce all week Benning is a genius and our saviour for finally getting rid of the kid 🎉🎉🎉

We are where we are, personally I don’t care if it takes 7 years or 10 years, just keep drafting and let the next GM build because I truly believe Jim Benning has no clue how to build a team from scratch.

He’ll be the GM who hands the next GM some nice pieces.

It was a joke, a jab at the continuous Benning narrative...

BTW, I also grew up in a hockey and sports household, my father coached at a professional level and was asked if he would train your precious Philadelphia in 68. My mother still has the offer letter. My older brother played in the Expos organization.

I commend you on achieving the level of success you have attained , you should be proud because not many can say the same.

In the end it is only a perception, whether yours, Botchford, social media or mine. Not any of us knows what or what not is going on, so it’s all speculative, with a continuous negative Benning/Canucks narrative.

Sorry to have triggered you

Aww, I’m glad to hear that hope you have a great flight half way across the world.

I used to hate crew change day going and looked forward to crew change coming home.

Benning said it would turn around quickly. He said he liked his D, his goaltending and his forward group every season, and that they would be challenging for the playoffs. He traded away picks more easily than he acquired them and now, finally, he’s preaching patience, draft and develop. This is why he’s a failure, not for the actual players he has selected with all those high picks. Maybe Sutter should be the GM, at least he had the stones.
- 1970vintage

I don't think you've thought this through, have you ever heard a GM outright trash his team? come on now.

John Tortalini told them the hard truth and they still didn’t clue in.

that's not what i recall. from media to radio call in shows, there has always been a very vocal dissenting opinion. sure it ebbs and flows with the play of the team but there has always been a very loud critical voice against the management.

the team has generally sucked for 50 years. it's not surprising that there has been a strong vocal opposition.
