I think everyone in here knows who is really making the picks (players) while JB is picking something else.

We suck this year. Add a top 5 pick and perhaps a late first / second.

New core of:
-EP, BB, BH, QH, OJ + next years high pick (hope)

If these things happen we’ll be pretty good not this year, Not next, but next:

- demko actually turns out to be a top 10 starter (having doubts now)
- OJ is a very good top 4
- QH is top 2 and gets points
- JV establishes himself as a legit NHL player
- 1-2 other D step up
- 3-5 other forward prospects develop really well

Oh boy as I type it we need a lot to happen but I believe lol

News flash, they generally are the picks of the head scouts and the scouting team as a whole.

I get that you don't like JB. So, there is no point beating away at this subject. We wont agree.

Question tho, is there any GM that anybody has ever liked longer than 6 weeks for the Canucks?

This fanbase loves its drama.

For complete transparency, I was one of the ones who was like WTF when they selected EP but I was ultimately open-minded about him....

I liked Roger back in the day, but that was because he took a bunch of overachievers to the cup finals, and he had balls to wave the white flag at the NHL refs.

Other than that no, not much other than Torts...

Define “good”

Players don't want to come here on one year contracts. We have to go over term and price until were good again
- neem55

Says who?
Over price, sure.
Over term, (frank) that noise.

Should have offered beagle and rousell 2y x 5m each, no NTC.
They would have signed.

Gillis was liked because nonis was a cum guzzling monkey.

I think people generally liked Burke, because he stood up for the players / Team. Not great on the draft floor, but as you noted that’s really the role of the scouts, which falls on the GM for continuing to employ people who don’t have a great track record.

There’s a group who liked (still like Gillis) for many of the same reasons as Burke. Quinn has a soft spot in many of the older fans, we remember the glory of the underdog, some of the great trades, but sweep under the carpet some of the poor decisions, like Rick Ley as the head coach...

I don’t like Benning because I don’t believe anything he says anymore, and I don’t like the way he’s navigated this franchise through the worst stretch in their history. I think it is going to be several years still before they pull themselves out of the muck, but I have said for a few years that the rebuild won’t truly begin until the twins retire, and I’m happy that we are here now.

I liked Quinn, he was awesome, but he had his baggage also.

It social media where guys like Lefty, ( not Lefty but guys like him ) can consistently whine and complain about anyone or anything, you know, squeaky wheel and all that.

I think before social media people were generally more optimistic about the team, even when it was bad. Every time they brought in a new guy to be the C that would help Bute score 70 we thought, yeah, that could be the guy, and it wasn’t.

that's not what i recall. from media to radio call in shows, there has always been a very vocal dissenting opinion. sure it ebbs and flows with the play of the team but there has always been a very loud critical voice against the management.

the team has generally sucked for 50 years. it's not surprising that there has been a strong vocal opposition.

I did but it wasn’t Glass I wanted. My meltdown was more me being piszed that Makar was gone already. I was wrong.

Of course there was a loud critical voice against management, that goes for all walks of life. But the news feeds weren’t as brutal with their reporting, we had Don Taylor and Neil McRae as the biggest mouth pieces, but generally reading the province or whatever rag of choice wasn’t as bad as the none stop verbal diarrhoea that happens here and other platforms like Botchford, Pass It To Bulis, and so on.

I regretfully read all of the posts this morning. Bunch of cum guzzlers indeed. You idiots going to cry and scream every morning until Benning is gone? It’s going to be at least 10 months and possibly years. Can we talk about motte? Or Quinn Hughes? Mix up the convo? Hell, talk about your sh!tty hockey pool for awhile

Jesus Christ if you honestly think I form my opinions on Benning from the media you’re clueless.

I’m a 50 something guy who played professional hockey for a couple years, thus I watch and understand what I perceive is good and bad.

I don’t like what they’ve done, as a general statement, there’s been some good things, as a whole because they didn’t have enough foresight to see the writing on the wall.
