#Canucks Benning says he tried to alter his defence over summer. Didn’t like the offers. So banking on health & improvement from within - VANTEL
Benning is an idiot. |

The team needs players with more hockey IQ... but we don't have that... we have lots of lunch pail though! I guess that explains the way he coaches at this stage of the game . - Bullfrog77
Cody Hodgson had huge hockey IQ.
Didn’t help him much. |

Ya think? I don’t know but hope you’re right.
But that might be too much management turmoil, even for aquaman. |

true.
I don’t think hockey IQ needs to be the predominant trait for a player. Raw skill first and foremost. Above average IQ is a bonus. |

You might say he'll get 6.5-10m
If he scores 40, I could see him commanding that type of money with the Benning bonus. - Pres.cup
No not 10 imo. I'd say 8 is very foreseeable, IMO Patrnak is a very accurate comparable. Pasta is same type of player, similar points. what did he get 7.8? I could see Boeser getting that if he pushes throughout the sophomore slump |

I just wrote a long rant on why the Canucks are where they are. Then I deleted it. Because....the poor horse. It's had enough.
Please win the lottery this year! I imagine a lot of us will be at the draft, hopefully we can all get together in the concourse and have a celebratory beer.

Motte reminds me of Peter Schaefer, hopefully he has as good a career, and we end up flipping him for the next Sami Salo! |

Bizarre that someone who seems very able to see guys that will make it to the show and be successful can't seem to tell a good dman from a hole in the wall |

I don't see that in him at all. But I agree with flipping him for a solid top 4 D |

I'm serious when I say this
I like Beagle at $6 mill for 2 years over either of those scenarios.
2 years to mentor, then he's gone. - classic321
Bennings two most successful ufa signings in my opinion were vrbata 5mill x 2 years and vanek. 1x1. Benning CAN sign players for deals less than 3 years. |

You might be right. I think it was 1 x 2 now that u mention it. Either way, it was a great signing. |

This is a bold statement when you consider what hockey players earn compared to NFL, MLB and NBA |

He started to grow on me a bit last season but instead of evolving, he seems stuck. Green was never a star player and coaches like he has a chip on his shoulder. It sounds like he coaches the way arbour coached him 25 years ago. Game has changed.
Asking where scoring will come from but benching them for making a mistake.
The D sprinting out of the zone to get more scoring. Puck doesn't get past the redline. turnover, pucks in the back of the net thanks to a 2 on 1.
Complaining they don't get to the point to block a shot but wants them to come back further in the zone.
Clearly things about his coaching are starting to bug me.
WD played not to lose. TG needs less lunch pail and more hockey IQ. - manvanfan
