It’s only money & til it effects in a negative way idc that much. That said the future is where i will focus on as in prospects develop & impact our team in a big way.

If its only money Benning should have done what everyone said he should have done and give Beagle the same money over 3 years instead of 4.

Do you think Benning would prefer one or three year contracts? Sadly we have to pay a premium to get any FA that has more than one suiter. We are at the bottom of the barrel as far as free agent destinations go. He clearly didn’t want any of the players that were available for one year contracts. Rightly or wrongly. Either way, I’m surprised so many are arguing. Seeing Gagner waived is the highlight of the offseason for me

People often overlook that player agents will take their negotiations elsewhere if the GM wont talk more than one year. Many people are fine with that and Nucker said why not just take the higher pick instead of improving the position.... but isnt developing your skilled players important as well and trying to fit together a PP for them to work with instead of just throwing them to the wolves is not a bad strategy.

If Gagner was traded for... the context of all this would be more significant but he was a free agent on a shorter term.... and waived.... and we still drafted Hughes after all this....

6 years for LE... Nucker schooled me on that one(rewind 4 years) but no one seen how bad he has been coming... and that changes everything when trying to figure out how to dispose of him without a bathtub full of sulphuric acid and an alibi.

A bunch of other teams were in on trying to sign those scrubs. I guess you guys wanted scrubbier scrubs than the scrubs that we scrubbed.

There is always going to be old school GM's who are infatuated with the bottom half of their line up.

During the JB regime i don’t see a single contract that has hurt us regarding the cap. Some can argue it has made players harder to trade & i couldn’t disagree. Next year & beyond we are ahead of many teams with our cap space & its a true weapon. Who gets signed for what I’ll have to be optimistic JB or his replacement will do a good job of it. For now we should be focussed on EP & Brock & Bo along with how well our prospects develop. The cap is a concern for another day & IMO our biggest asset.

Bringing up the past is fine when using it for constructive points in the present. Some things in the past need to stay there. I guess its about relevance for the now & in the future is what i mean by that. Beating some dead horses is done far too often.

Referring to past personal beefs about people vs referring to past hockey debates with people, dead horse or not... still two different things.

True but some dead horses are best to be left alone. Wasn’t being specific just generalizing.

At the same token, Gagner was brought in for the PP, and with the exit of the twins, you would think his PP experience would have been even more so utilized today than it was last year. I think Gagner was just beat out plain and simple by everyone else.
- Codes1087

Pettersson looking like he can play C softened the loss of Hank on the PP.... and Gagner is stank more than Hank.

I'm serious when I say this

I like Beagle at $6 mill for 2 years over either of those scenarios.

2 years to mentor, then he's gone.

I don't mind Beagle and Roussel as they bring something this team lacks.
- 93Nucks

I don't know man, between eriksson and gagner we kinda had the overpaid, overtermed, over-protected trade clause positions covered.... don't you think?

I'd like this cycle of signing scrubs to replace scrubs who who were put on waivers to end.
- classic321

I’d like this cycle of scrap posts after scrap posts from you to end but we can’t all get what we want. Benning will continue to upset you with more scrubs and you will continue to upset the rest of us with more scrap posts

You wouldn't get beagle at 2 years. 4 teams were offering him 3x3

Is that your thing now? Call someone NFU when you get into a disagreement?

Is that the narrative?

- RealityChecker

I'm talking about how you jumped on the soap box after instigating an response making it obvious what you were hoping for... It has nothing to do with disagreeing and for the record... you are the only one I've done this to ever.

I havent replaced your user name with N4U.... not yet anyways... so I havent called you anything but a liar a couple of hours back. You keep sniveling about it and I'll have plenty to call you.

Not that i know insider info but no way he would sign 2yrs. I’m sure there were many better options for him.
