its easy to not be worried about term/cap when your team is poop and you have an abundance of space. Boeser is going to get paid, pettersson is going to get paid, Hughes and so forth. I agree 100%, the cap isn't an issue, but as we see more and more kids push for jobs, we are going to see more veterans being pushed for jobs, and more veterans waived, thus making these longer term UFA signings irrelevant. My issue is more so the trend, of bottom 6 UFA's being given term when the team is on the cusp of having so many kids readily available. They may not be ready now, but I would imagine Gaudette beats Beagle for a job next year. Dahlen perhaps beating ____. I think ideally, waiving veterans and eating cap is not something any GM willingly wants to do if he can anyway avoid it (Benning admitted in the press conference today he explored all options on the trade front for Gagner but had no takers). - Codes1087
By the time Boeser EP & Hughes get paid our current contracts will have 0 effect on our cap? As for Brock i’m predicting in ghe $6-6.5m range only more if he is 30+ & 70pts or more a season. |

lol relax man, its just my opinion. I am not fond of bottom 6 UFA signings past 1 year, and you disagree, no need to shout lol. Different philosophies on how to run a team, doesn't make one right or wrong lol - Codes1087

crying about booner in the past? booner, you calling people "liars" and accusing people of being on glue are ad hominem attacks. you did that today. when you get called out for it, you become emotional.
btw, no one really brings up the past but you. - RealityChecker
I bring up what people say about hockey in the past on here, yes that expected. Nothing like your game. Your teary speech had nothing to do with hockey... just about the poster. Conspiracies? lol
I havent gotten emotional. Its you that jumped up on the soap box about the past immediately.... I just called you on your BS quote. Its was a lie well past exaggeration...lololol.
Look, you can be like N4U and instigate something and immediately start crying about the response you trolled for or you can be like most of us... send off your shots and laugh off the response or take it like a man providing no personal lines have been grossly crossed. No... you choose the first and make no mistake... I've ignored your recent shots being not in the mood. The first response telling you off and there you go about what ever hang up in the past you are referring to. You are not hiding your intentions very well. Go to the Serenity thread where people complain about other posters and you dont have to deal with them responding then.

Do you think Benning would prefer one or three year contracts? Sadly we have to pay a premium to get any FA that has more than one suiter. We are at the bottom of the barrel as far as free agent destinations go. He clearly didn’t want any of the players that were available for one year contracts. Rightly or wrongly. Either way, I’m surprised so many are arguing. Seeing Gagner waived is the highlight of the offseason for me |

I love this move, but I still maintain that they should stick to camp dump trades and not even attempt to sign the popular UFA's, sign some under the radar guys if you want. |

Bringing up the past is fine when using it for constructive points in the present. Some things in the past need to stay there. I guess its about relevance for the now & in the future is what i mean by that. Beating some dead horses is done far too often. |

again, its not specifically about the player as I mentioned. Its strictly managements trend and approach to free agency the last few years. I personally would rather stop gaps and UFA's to be signed to 1 or 2 year contracts max. Term isn't as important, and never really is when you are talking about a non-contending team. The reason why we have 36 million in cap space is because we aren't spending it on elite players like other teams, therefore I don't see cap hits as important as term, on contending teams anyway. Like I said though, just a difference of opinion. |

That 4th year lingers over us but i don’t see replacement types for 4th line roles in our system. Some ppl like prospects to cut their teeth on tbe 4th line but not I. My reason is low TOI & rather see offensive talent push for top 9 spots. - Nighthawk
Gaunce, Gaudette, Gadjovich, Archibald and Motte are all fine future 4th liners. |

I absolutely agree. I have said before that there must be incentive for UFA's to join a dog poop team. As far as whether or not I think Benning would prefer one year contracts to 3 years contracts, well, we will never know lol, I am just going by his history as Canucks GM.
Again, waiving Gagner is an excellent move, and no one here is denying that. You won't find a single person here who isn't happy about that, and that isn't really the context of the debates going on here. Either way, it was a good move. |

We have no cap concerns now or for years to get worred over. Sometimes ppl don’t project it far enough. I’d look at roster spots later down tbe road & ignore contracts entirely. - Nighthawk
Toronto didn't have cap worries two years ago.... look now.
Edmonton didn't have cap problems two years ago, look now.

The optimist in me says we are still evolving. The prospects are only just beginning to develop & in each following year we pin hopes on 1 will earn a roster spot. More is nice but not realistic for me.
We are in the phase where we are looking to 2020-21 as a reat goal to be relevant once again if sooner well then something huge has ovcured but i don’t see it happening. By the time 2021-22 comes around we here will be enjoying our Canucks or more miserable than we could ever imagine 😂😂 |
