Any move he does make, still leaves this team in a very good position for Hughes.
It will just means less "ugly" losses (speaking if he goes out and gets a goalie)
I doubt there will be a forward or defensemen that will actually be an upgrade on the waiver wire. - manvanfan
I will respectfully disagree. I think Connor Carrick would be a wise addition.... |

Isn’t Kelowna one of the hubs for the LDB? Thought they had a main warehouse out there.
Agree on Taz, had some truly excellent Pinot and Bubbly at a presentation by Wines of Australia (Mark Davidson is the former Vancouver educator who now works for Aussi Wines). - 1970vintage
We get to Kelowna a couple of times a year and stock up, but in Penticton it’s Okanagan wine or nothing. |

I predict the worst season in team history.
Its going to be gloriously bad! And we will still pick 5th overall!
But, silver lining, we add another elite piece to the puzzle and I think that this year is rock bottom. As long as you can accept that, the future is bright! - chompsey

It depends on how you view things. If you want a top 3 pick, it makes absolutely no sense to change the same 8 D that we lost with so admirably last year. If we want to make even the slightest improvement on the back end, it would make sense to pick up a player for free, waive one of our players that we know we suck with, and hope they can somehow change the dynamic of our back end a little. I don't think any waiver wire pick up would drastically change our D enough that it would change our draft position, so I agree, we SHOULD take the change on him. |

It will be interesting to see if Jim makes any moves? If he doesn't he may be going after Hughes right out of the gate because our goalies suck. - VANTEL
yeah...it's worse than I thought.

Would Carrick change our draft position? Not even in the slightest.
But, JB should always continue to look to improve and a claim needs to be put in for Carrick. JB shouldnt even be thinking about it - just do it!
Its a long term move and Im sorry, I dont care how competitive Biega is, he's an AHLer. I have no room for him on my team..... |

I am looking forward to this year and I know it will be ugly. I want to see what players will be part of the next step.
There is still housecleaning that needs to be done and I want to see players removed . - VANTEL
Will be some highs and lows for sure.
House cleaning for sure. Maybe next year Van will see the biggest change over.
So many endless possibilities, save that for the new year though. |

Carrick wouldn't, probably the same with DP didn't, but I agree, its a free acquisition and no risk pickup on a team with the worst D in the league. |

Carrick hasn't really been proven as a career NHLer even as a 7/8 guy. He's younger though, a bit more potential. All he would really do would be fill Biega's role as the 7/8 defender. |

Can Van claim them both? Or would they have to circle back round before they were able to claim the other.
Pickard also on waivers. |

I had thought that if you put in a claim at 1 and you got it that you would drop to the bottom of the list for the other 2 and only get them if they went unclaimed. |

Vancouver is one of the only teams in the league, that you could make an argument, that a D who is put on waivers, could potentially be an upgrade on what we currently have. |

Asset Management - chompsey
The St. Louis Blues have acquired depth defenseman Jakub Jerabek from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a conditional 2020 sixth round draft selection. Jerabek was recently cut from the Oilers roster but was awaiting an assignment, something he’ll now have to get from his new bosses in St. Louis instead.
Now this is asset management. |

predicting a last place finish draws out that group with their torches and pitchforks. I avoid it all and just say bottom 3 from now on |

The pom pom group doesn't care what the other group says. They made claims about a last place finish last season and were wrong. |
