Best news all year. This sends a huge message to the other Vets who think they get a free pass. Sutter is clearly sharing his big balls with coaching and management staff

I think Pettersson has probably surprised us all at how comfortable he looks at C, already. He's been really good defensively and having watched a bunch of Vaxjo games last year, I think he looks better on the smaller NA surface TBH.
- Brooks_Light

I mentioned this after he started and almost finished the break away vs Edmonton. With the smaller surface it will allow him to be in and around the play more often. Especially at center.

1-8 in preseason has changed how much I care about all things Canucks tbh

he isn't exactly being transparent about it either. The league can see that he brought back the exact goalie tandem and exact 8 D that we used to suck with last year

But we upgraded our bottom line, for the next 4 years so we should be competitive.

I have to give Benning props. this is him fully recognizing the mistake of signings Gagner. It also means that he meant what he said, in that he would make room for players if they deserve it (Motte)

Lefty should have just gone for the restraining order. Less shameful.

All this talk about a team never tanking from the beginning of the season (Donna), ya, this is precisely what Jim Benning is doing. He's going hard after Jack Hughes from game one!!!
- LeftCoaster

Play to win. If you don't win, oh well. Better luck next season with a high draft pick and some more developed players.

Benning admitting fault, trying to amend the mistake by willing to eat salary and bury Gagner is a bigger win than anything that Motte could ever bring to the table

I saw that. I thought he was pretty good when he was in Nashville. Wasn't he waived or traded due to off-ice issues or something? I can't remember.

I still can't believe they kept Biega, Hutton, Pouliot.(so far) Defence is truly where this team is wrong (goaltending a very closer second).

Motte is smaller than Minivan. I’m still shocked he is making the team. But good for him and good for Benning for admitting a mistake and tossing Gagner

Exactly, he's fast as f&*k so creating space isn't a problem - and although he's getting knocked off the puck easily along the boards sometimes it doesn't seem to be deterring him from going to those areas. I've seen him use his silky mitts to peel away from defenders too. The other night Demers crushed him, then awhile later he went into the corner first and deeked the f78K outta him, so he doesn't seem to be intimidated.

He was getting better and then was good with the oilers end of last season. I'm not sure if there was a reason he was traded. Just was excess to Nashville. Anaheim with Perry going down was going to pick someone up. I wonder if they will go after Gagner too.
