Not only the young stars tournaments, but, some get all starry-eyed because someone has a Hobey Baker award-like season or an MVP like season, in a far inferior development league as the AHL.
I wasn't trying to knock people for being overly optimistic, just trying too remind some, that they need to temper expectations a bit. - Reubenkincade
A lot would be more appropriate.
Some people are going to be shattered when they finally realize how bad this year's team is going to be. |

He played games last year and looked alright. I don't see an issue . Big deal he needs more learning in Utica, same with Dahlen. Both will more than likely be NHL players soon.
BTW this is not aimed at you .
I am not sure how many players most were expecting but I am okay with one (he is really fuken good). I would have liked two or the most three but I am happy the team is doing it right.
I am also glad they are clearing out the AHL players like Gaunce and Bouchard .
I am looking forward to getting a top 10 player next year. |

Hobey Baker is a funny award, many of the winners don't end up doing much in the NHL, while college hockey has improved there is still a huge range of talent throughout the league.
It will be interesting to see how the runner ups Borgstrom, Donato and Sikura do with their respective teams. |

I had AG making the team before Beagle was signed. That said he had to take it to another level or 2 & if not then Utica would be fine. It shows the draft & develop is taking root & we can expect more of it. Patience will kill our hopes lol |

Gaudette, Dahlen, Demko and OJ in Utica is the best thing to happen for this teams development since the 04 lockout. |

It’s not any different than high profile CHL draftees. Some plateau there & the NHL shows it’s adapt or they are fringe players or done. TG was just that. Carbonneau was another good example. Drafting is an art & most difficult to project teenagers. Elite talent with holes in their game is pretty normal & how a kid figures it out & works on it can be make or break it. Bo for example shows others how if you work on your game & identify the needs you can suceed & its ongoing. |

Funny thing, I would be more likely to spend money on watching the comets play than the Canucks. More intriguing roster. |

I would have liked to see Gaudette and Demko to start the year, but not disappointed that they are in Utica. I expect to see them up sometime this year when injuries hit. |

The team hasn't always taken that approach though and it's refreshing to see them having the patience to let these guys development in The AHL.
That said EP and Boeser in the NHL helps. |

In the cases of AG & Dahlen playing lots of top 6 minutes with talent will build up their confidence & opportunity to be leaders. Once scoring comes & is sustained the job has just begun. Learning to be difference makers is very important. |

I haven't looked into it but my guess CHL MVP's go on to be productive NHLers more often than Hobey Baker winners. |

I know what you said it was just hilarious. He has scored 5 goals across three seasons. If you remove goals that were scored off his ass he has 3. Over his 114 games that’s .026 per game or 2.15 goals per 82 games. He has scored goals alright |

Watching goal scorers they roof it &/or a quick release. A one timer is most rare & most prospects don’t have one that is lethal. Buzzing a goalies ear to score or below the blocker & various shot skills are in demand. |

I’m just playing devils advocate. I agree with what your saying; Gaunces skill set is not needed on a team starved of goal. Not yet anyway.
I just don’t need to read fans dumping on the kid because he was never suited for a scoring role the NHL.
I see it more of a fault on amateur scouting not understanding or foreseeing where the club is or where it was going. |
