Charlie Coyle?
- gforce

Not official but hearing the trade is Coyle to BOS in exchange for Ryan Donato and a fifth-round pick. Details to come.

This from Bob McKenzie.

I hear a lot of raving about Charlie Coyle, but I really don't know that much about him as never watch wild games.he has another year on his contract.

Not sure about giving up on Denado that early though

Well as a player and contract I actually love it. It is hard to judge Donato's ceiling as he showed flashes of serious offensive talent. So did Spooner tho. Time will tell on that one.

Gonna give this one a big thumbs up honestly as I don't think Donato will be big time and Coyle fills an immediate need very nicely.

He also lived two minutes from me when he was 5 so there's that

That's a great cap hit for next year as a bridge to give the young guys more time.

Now what to do with 42

I like the acquisition of Charlie Coyle the player at his current cap hit through next season. I don’t like that it came at the expense of Donato. I think they’re giving up on him too soon. Tough to believe that it took Donato to get this done ...

That said, a CUP forgives everything so make it happen this season or next !!!!!

All signs point to more coming.
I'd be delighted if it was Staal if it didn't cost a 1st or one of the big 3 prospects. Or the Great Danton of course. Granted I'm going on word of mouth on the 'big 3'.
I must be the only B's fan praying it's not Stone. Not because I don't think he's real good...

Ditto the above for Zuccarello.
This year is a pretty interesting deadline, reading a lot. I know I said I was out on rentals but the players being discussed and their alleged costs are changing my mind.

Donato: "They just said, ‘Go and play,’ and that’s when I think I’m at my best when (coaches) have the confidence in me and they let me play. It’s been awhile since the coaches have had a lot of confidence in me to play me in all situations."

And he leaves town like Frankie and Spooner; being critical of the coach...

I mean I really don't know squadooosh but the consensus looks like a mix of secondary prospects and a 2nd for Zucc or Staal.None of big 3 or 1st. Minny's GM graduated from the Chia school of trade so who knows.
Whereas Stone sounds like a 1st or two AND Vaak AND Heiden or something like it. I think you'd have to be off your rocker to do that. And then he gets 9-10 for 7 years. Again terrific player but he's not Pasta good IMO.

OKAY RyRy let's see if you can put up Frankie numbers.
Actually wouldn't be too surprised but I'm not gonna lose sleep.

The details:

To Ottawa: 2019 1st Round Pick. Vitali Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson and a conditional 2020 1st Round Pick.

To Columbus: Matt Duchene and Julius Bergman

Apparently Abramov is a good prospect but to get a first round as well for a rental ? I don't want Bruins doing this type of deal.. I don't consider CBJ to be a top 6-8 team to win the cup but who knows

Pretty serious O lineup they have now. They could go places if they gel at the right time.

Stempniak playing for Providence again tonight ... Played in 2 out of 3 games last weekend then disappeared for the week. Back again playing tonight.

Rumored to be competing for a job in Boston ... I like this approach instead of trading for a veteran rental.

Yeah might be worth a shot, would like to see Backes completely out for a while at least. Play with Cehlarik and Coyle 3rd line maybe?
If other options are too rich for Sweeney, I agree it's worth a look.

They always seem to trade for a veteran at the deadline. Save the assets and sign Stempniak instead. He’s the steady ‘veteran presence’ they’d get elsewhere but without having to give anything up in return.

Inclined to agree but if a Zucchini or Staal somehow could be had relatively cheap I'd roll the bones

Zuccarello off to DAL, pending trade call, in exchange for 2nd round pick in 2019 and third round pick in 2020. The 2nd rounder becomes a first if DAL wins two playoff rounds. The 3rd becomes a first if DAL re-signs Zuccarello.

liked him...always seems to do well vs Bruins...not a bad price

I'd have done that and not resigned. If we were to get through two rounds it's a great great chance. Damn

Of course Rags better off with Dallas' higher picks and not seeing him again. Not that that should matter to them
