The smartest post of the week have been coming from ASL posting the photo of Jack Hughes over and over. This is what it takes to get the top pick. Jack Hughes ( not my choice) this year and Lafrenier next year will take this team a long way.

it has to be done.

somethings gotta give with this roster over that period though.

i just hope it doesn't get too grim within the team.

i'm still pretty crestfallen over gaudette, dahlen and oj's performance so far. i hope for big things from them in utica for some kind of consolation.

I swear some of you guys pop pills like tic tacs .

It's all because of the Sedins retiring that we are this bad?

We have won 4 playoff games since 2012. We continuously end it the bottom third in scoring every year. Our D sucks , our goal tending is horrible and our big concern is to avoid waivers for Gaunce . You blame Beagle Schaller and Roussel for our years of misery when not one of them have played a regular season game for the team yet.

I bet we could have finished 12 last year if that damn Benning didn't sign that Beagle fella in the summer.

Keep pushing for Gaunce and his five goals over three years , and keep pushing for Henrik and his three goals to come out of retirement.

Remember the team has been the worst NHL team in the last 4 years so blaming Beagle for their misery is beyond stupid. Sedins were not the only problem but they certainly were part of the problem .

Location bet that Gaunce will score more per minutes played then beagle will this year and over the next 4 years.

I like beagle and rousell but we have 9 fourth liners on this team already, are they an upgrade, yes. Is it going to matter to the anyone except Sutter, no. But sutter might hit 20 goals again sucking the life out off pettersson.

We're gonna suck bad this year, I'm ok with that which is why I think it was a waste of contact space to hire more depth.

Unfortunately yesterday Benning said " Loui has a lot to offer the Canucks and we need him to mentor Elias"

If that doesn't make you puke nothing will. Just keep thinking Brother Jack.

If it makes sense to you, I'd rather they waive Eriksson then Gaunce, give him a wake up call in the minors.

Why be a wallflower when you can dance?

This team is bottom 3 bad, not because of rousell and beagle or the pre season. They're bad because they lack top 9 forwards players. They lack top 6 defensemen and they lack a starting goaltender. The new signings don't address that, they are better 4th liners then we had which is an upgrade, but I would have rather seen them try to sign an old spezza type to push players down the lineup then old beagle types to push players up the lineup.

Always I'm looking forward to the draft, hopefully we don't drop again.

That is the only way to look at it .

It does appear to look as of they will be bottom 3 . Things could change though. Boeser looks like Bozo right now and that could turn around at any time. Roussel is a high energy player . Sven and Goldobin have not been finishing their scoring chances. Things could change but if they don't top 3.

Isnt the point to let let the offensive prospects play in offensive positions while sheltering them with experience?

Isnt that what everyone has been complaining about for the last 5 years?

Didnt matter if they signed Spezza or Beagle, they were still going to finish in the bottom 3!

Just sit back and enjoy the rebuild! They are going to be adding some elite pieces in the next 2 drafts and hopefully management doesnt mismanage them the way Edmonton did. I think by adding the Beagles and Rousel's that they are already ahead of that.

I just wish they had added some better defensemen over the summer - (frank)!

lol well said.

We'll actually be a slightly better team 5/5 this year and it will eventually show.

The negative nillies around here just need their fodder to slam Benning and blame him for this that and the other things.

Blaming Beagle, Roussell and Schaller and they haven't played a reg season hgame with the team yet

I don’t really disagree with any of this, and I’m not upset that the Canucks are going to be bad, but there were people expecting the Canucks to be better this year (and they still might be, it’s only preseason), largely because of who is out and who is in.

The Sedins were done, for sure, but they’ve left a hole in the line up that won’t be easily filled. We were bad the last few years with the Sedins here, but this year we are going to be terrible. It’s better long term, and it means that Pettersson and Boeser are going to get all the ice they want, wether they are ready or not.

I think Boeser Pettersson and Bo will all be 50 pts plus sooner or later. It may take some time coming out of the gate but they will get there.

Jim tried to fill that hole with Loui but it was a horrible choice.

He kicked tires on ROR but fans screamed.

The only success so far with top 6 players is coming through the draft. Like Chompsy said he has surrounded the young players with leadership now we have to wait until we draft more and the current ones develop.

I’m not saying I wanted JB to keep trying to surround the Sedins with veteran players and keep trying to chase the playoffs. The Sedins were done, the old Canucks were done and it was time to move on. Way passed time.

I am saying that the transition away from the Sedins won’t be as smooth as some hoped or expected.

I know what you are getting at

I do think EP will replace Hank . Dahlen might eventually replace Danny's numbers but not yet.

My disappointment this year has been the lack of push from the bubble squad. I was hoping to have a better supporting cast from the group competing for jobs.

It looks like Garret Sparks is going to be sent down today or tomorrow. I think Benning should claim him. He did win the Calder last year and is maybe a year or two ahead of Demko. Nilsson has been brutal.

Ya, the lack of push has been really surprising. The free agent signings aren’t exactly blocking anyone this season.

I really thought Nilsson played his last game as a Canuck last season...
