"The problem Ottawa faces is that the lottery odds aren’t great anymore for tanking" - Ryan_Wilson
Mr. Wilson, the problem is that the Senators don't even have their 1st... the Avalanche have them. But kudos for the masculine title of the thread!
The Penguins also terminated the contract of forward Frederik Tiffels. - Ryan_Wilson
That's a little strange formulation for "Frederik Tiffels opted to play in German league DEL for the team 'Kölner Haie'". |

Gritty even did a Penguin by diving with no one around too.

Yes I thought that was odd he said that as well. It does appear that it's a case in Ottawa that the prisoners are running the prison so to speak. Completely out of control. So, how much will Duchene get ufa? Would look nice in a Pens jersey. |

The Senators are secretly being GM'ed by the Avs. Until they cash in on this summer's 1st rounder, then they'll give the team back. |

Not odd. Who owns what draft picks isn’t an advanced stat so it’s irrelevant to hockey overall |

I'm all in on Gritty. The branding writes itself. He might be my new favorite mascot in professional sports. |

If they’re especially wacky their general existence amuses me. |

I was about to ask about Frederik Tieffels but VeryModernMan gave me the answer. He was supposed to be a decent prospect.
Glad to see Sheahan getting back with the team.
Here to hopping Brassard show some emotion playing on a Penguins sweater and does well. |

I never understood why DeAngelo Williams left. He was VERY good with LeVeon Bell. Excellent tandem....so I went to look for DeAngelo and he's a professional wrestler now lol. Even though he's 35 now he's better than everything we had in RB aside from Bell. |

He stated in local media that his NHL-dream was burst as he was just considered for the 10th forward line, he already trained the whole summer there (which is his home) and it was his childhood-dream to play for team and he now looks forward playing with his older brother (Dominik), and obviously he also earns a little more than in AHL/ECHL. The team is btw. trained by the father of Leon Draisaitl (Peter), with whom he is best friends. |

ESPN has the Pens' defense group ranked #11. I'm quite surprised they have them that high. |

So what if Duchene is pissed off? All these guys are friends and want to see the best for each other, like he said. This is only news because it's the Senators. Means nothing

I agree here. Wilson has made the very valid point that if you’re a bad player it doesn’t matter how much you’re loved in the locker room or how much leadership you bring, you should be replaced. This thing about Duchene isn’t consistent with one of his well documented view points. |

I think our D has a chance to be pretty good. Sure there's a couple of question marks, but most teams have question marks at D. We have better depth for sure. I think Ruhwedel is competent if needed. Now we have Riikola who is making the coaches decisions much tougher. Oleksiak has been getting rave reviews in camp....Marshall said he's been great. I think the key is Letang. If we get him back to 90% of what he was we'll be in real good shape. |

I think they could have squeezed another year of Williams (last year). They drafted Connor and expected him to assume Williams role. This season there were a few good options as free agents that would have looked nice next to Connor. Dion Lewis. Crowell too. There were a few others. Ridley isn't a bad player either, but there were better available. They should have let Bell leave and go with a tandem of two good backs. |

I'm more surprised they know what hockey is. Usually they are more concerned about what LeBron James had for lunch. |

Didn’t Zach Smith put up some points? Was his wife the one that was (frank)ing with everyone else’s wives? I’m confused because I thought this was a Pens blog and the only cool thing about the Senators was when Chris Neil could still play, and that good defenseman they had. |

Its wierd to use Duchene a the person that "proves" there is a problem with the franchise, ( I am sure there is ) but it really seems like where ever he goes, there is problems. All colorado had to do was get rid of him and they went to the playoffs...seems like he may also be a problem. |
