I'm starting to get confused

To simplify it, I'm saying we, as Canuck fans, shouldn't be making fun of the Oilers because they've sucked for imo EIGHT years and people still (not me) think they suck.

The Canucks have sucked four of the past five years and again are well lined up for a few more years of suckage so we'll be at six of seven years. If we don't significantly improve we'll be eating some crow.

Keeping in mind the Oilers don't control the quality of the draft or the draft lottery results.

again, we seem to be arguing (linden#1 included) about the same thing. for the last time, I am not dismissing the importance of top end/elite centers on a team, clearly they have MORE value than wingers. HAVING SAID THAT, I don't like to take away the importance of A) drafting BPA always, and B) wingers can be just as big of part of a "building block" of a team as a center, defensemen or goalie. There are so many elite wingers that remain absolutely crucial to the core of their respective franchises. As a team that lacks scoring, I would not take a positional need in the draft (say center or D) when an elite scoring winger is available (all hypothetical obviously). Two of our biggest 1st round let downs recently were based off of positional need (juolevi) and emotional ties (where the kid grew up in Virtanen). I will call it now as well, Zadina will be better than Kotkaniemi and Barret Hayden (two players chosen by their respective clubs for positional need, not BPA).
