@sask
Should probably hold on to Stone. We’ll need the depth once playoffs come and injuries start stacking up.
Also his Brother might be easier to sign once we acquire him at the deadline. - fry
There is that angle . If Ottawa was smart they would've traded for Stone already. Such an easy way to get some positive press, plus it gives you leverage to sign your best player that you just massively pissed off...but Ottawa isn't smart.
I thought Rass was close to equal to Stone last year... it's not even close anymore IMO.
I'm wondering if something might be up with Smith going to waivers... |

Tree made so many changes this off season but for some reason left the goalies alone. I don't understand it. Smith at 36 needs a proven back up. - flamminghead
He has spent a lot of resources on goaltending already (Elliott, Smith, Johnson), if he is going to ship even more assets out for another goaltender then he better get it right.
I like Tre, but I think the heat is on this year. If the goaltending flops & he doesn't fix it I think he'll be gone... same goes if he spends assets on another goalie that doesn't pan out. |

I am seriously impressed with Prout.
Dude has been a part of almost all the other teams goals in the last couple games. - DuranDuran
I'm okay with keeping Prout as a black ace and put him in when we have an injury or someone has a face that needs punching (that job should go to a vet anyway--you want rookies to play).
Prout should not be getting regular minutes though. We have at least 5 better options. |

Oh yeah, 3 or 4 games a year he will be needed. God help us if he is ever on the ice at the same time as McDavid. |

Rasmus is looking like he has a lot of upside. Great offensively and can handle himself well playing D. |

Was at the game last night.
Prout looked awful last night-lumbering and slow. Kulak had one good rush up ice but outside that seemed like he couldn't keep up with even the prospect line-up the Sharks had. Stone was, meh, Stone.
I thought Andersson looked good, moved well, seemed to be everywhere. Kylington was alright but I don't think was used as often as the plugs (see above).
The Phillips, Gawdin, Lazar line honestly looked good and created chances. Jankowski was invisible and Czarnik was just ok. Frolik looks like the years are catching up to him...
It was obviously a line up to show the coaches what some guys could do...
In saying all that, its nice having options... |

Frolik is great on the PK, and I think is a servicable 3rd line player.
But I would much rather have a 3rd line of something like
Bennett-Ryan-Czarnik than Bennett-Ryan-Frolik
And not sure if we want a 4th line player making that much coin.
Question is who could take his place on the 1st PK with Backland. If there is someone that can doa good job, really think maybe its time to shop Frolik and see what we could get, gotta be able to fetch a 2nd.

I was at the game last night too - and I couldn't have said it better. You echoed nearly all my thoughts - are you in my head?

I would like to see a line up of:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Neal
Mangiapane/Dube - Ryan - Frolik

Also the D was franking terrible in the first period, but the goalies didn't really inspire me either. I am a Rittich fan, but I didn't see much good last night.

Is it just me or did anyone else expect more from Neal? Looks like he cant keep up with the top line.
I would like to see,
Johnny, Money Czarnik
Chucky Backlund Neal
Dube, Ryan, Lindholm
Bennett Jankowski, Frolik

Czarnik definitely looking like on of the best players on the ice every game. And I will echo that sentiment- NEal has not looked very good, hopefully he will pick it up come reg season |

I think Neal will do well on the PP with JG.
IMO I would have Lindholm on the 1st to doing the boardwork down low and keep Monahan in the slot. Lindholm is a decent skater and can keep up with JG and SM.
Then have Neal in the slot on the 2nd line as neither Backland or MT , who do not really in the speed game as much.
Czarnik on the 3rd as a playmaker for SB might get him going as well. If not toss on Dube or AM having Ryan center. |

no way the Flames will make the playoffs with the goalies they have. it baffles me they would go through all the trades and changes up front without addressing the weakest link on this team. |
