I’m gonna love watching Petan run a PP unit with Dahlin and Eichel - Rexypoo
I guess Reinhart, Mittelstadt, Skinner, Sheary, Ristolainen, will be non-factors, as Petan miraculously (a) becomes a Sabre and (b) bypasses all of the above to play on their #1 PP unit.
Also, does this mean that you are moving to Buffalo ? |

Gotta have Wheeler in the "who can not get hurt" list. We can live without Trouba.

Yes. I didn't notice Wheeler wasn't on the list. I agree with Benny. Wheeler more valuable than Trouba. Harder to cover the loss of Wheeler than the loss of a defenceman not named Buff.

I'd like to add #6. Ehlers. The kid is an absolute bargain at 6M. I see him as a Gudreau/Kane/Marner posession player who has a massive ceiling. Honestly, I can see this team as a contender without Laine/Trouba which says a lot about their depth.

Ya don't bust up TLC and I don't need anything more than eye test to call that one out ... ~ $5M in cap for that line and you can play them against almost anyone ... don't f_ck with something like that - AND - I bet they only get better
What was lost through the commotion was "Niku" ... the Niku discussion ... man, do I like what I see and - yes - I still see some breakdowns in the D zone .. had a friend from Winnipeg at the game last night who lives in Cgy now ... he sat pretty much ice level and that was the player he was raving about after the game
So - - - left side D - - - Morrissey a given ... we're paying Kuli $4.3M so you're gonna play him ... then we have Chariot, Morrow, and Niku (for this discussion) for the 3rd pairing ... I keep Myers on the right side ... believe Chariot and Morrow have to pass through waivers if sent down and given their cap, another team would claim, I'm betting ... so you keep one of them in the presser
My guess is they play Niku on Moose until injuries ... thoughts ?

On balance of what he will do for his team I think Niku is already as good an option as any of Chariot, Morrow (or Myers on LD) at this point. The questions to answers are:
1) Are there deficiencies in his game that will fix faster with the Moose than with Jets? ie. defensive play, muscle
2) Is there another player who will benefit more from time with the Moose? ie. Poolman
3) What player(s) would fill the LD spot and how does that impact the rest of the lineup? Will the replacement player's play improve with regular ice time and role? ie. Morrow
I believe Niku will be sent to the Moose to start the season. His NHL experience will serve to provide a more tangible reason for him to develop technically sound defense habits. He will have more awareness of the speed and strength of NHL hockey. He will return to the NHL around December and will stay for a long time.

Ross. I think its more the loss of the Scheif- Wheeler duo who have been so strong together that would hurt possibly more than just losing the one defenseman. Anyways its all a hypothetical conversation so as you said...lets just hope it never happens.

I think your right . If your wrong then Chevy better start making some phone calls this week for teams looking for some defensive depth in Morrow or Poolman or Chariot. Might as well throw Petan or Dano in the mix as well.

First I'm not doing a hit job on Tanev I actually praise the line for what it does but also show where the weak link is. For whatever reason he works with them and there's not a doubt Maurice will change it. All I'm asking is could it be better by replacing Tanev?
Unfortunately the website that listed all those times with multiple players is no longer available. But I will give you this...
Copp played 82 games for 938 5 vs 5 minutes when on the ice he was 53.55% CF
Lowry played 45 games for 533 5 vs5 minutes when on the ice he was 57.64% CF
Tanev played 61 games for 640 5 vs 5 minutes when on the ice he was 51.24% CF
There's a drop but he's still positive.
So I did some harder looking and will show you this:

Peter, who cares about how well any line drives play. Do they score goals is the question?

Driving the play results in scoring the goals.
I will not buy into y’all weird font fetish... K, but actually how does that work? |

Am I building a team? Or is this a one year thing? Either way, I keep Trouba. I just want to know if I want to keep Wheels, too |

Are you sure about that Rexy?
Tanev - 8 goals
Lowry - 8 goals
Copp - 9 goals
Total - 25 goals
For a line that "drives' play, you would think they would be scoring more goals.

This is a good point. Only one player on the line has any real scoring talent (Copp), while Lowry has always suffered from stone hands, and Tanev has always suffered from Tanev.
Both Lowry and Copp live and die by their defensive play, and their ability to keep the puck away from the opposition, while Tanev uses his speed to force the defence to make hasty decisions |

Copp’s hands and shot are only marginally better than perreault’s. Don’t be fooled by his one bar down goal per year.

It worked for Connor last year to start the year on the moose and it can also work for Niku. Either way whereever he starts it’s not worth the attention it’s getting on Twitter. Whether he starts on moose or nhl will not affect the jets season or his
Also. I like this Roslovic ehlers thing and actually think the left wing spot will be Petan’s when he returns. |

I like the Rosy/Ehlers thing too but am thinking the spot will go to Lemieux for the physicality. |

Petan wil not be sent down when he returns, they will give him a chance there as well. I do think Lemieux has as good a chance though to |

Meh. A 30 point forward with top tier defensive numbers doesn’t have to put up 20 goals. If he can do 10 consistently, it’s fine. Same goes for Lowry, although Lowry is legitimately a top 5 shutdown C. |

Lemieux is just the dumb version of Tanev, who himself is the dumb version of Reider, who himself is the dumb version of Grabner (minus goals), who himself is the dumb version of Cogliano, who himself is the dumb version of Niederreiter |
