It will be more interesting if another team shows interest in him if the Flyers part ways with him.
- arichardson22

I really would like him to have some solid goaltending near the end of his contract here.

The lineup on paper is pretty good, but the goaltending has the potential to really derail them this year.

Just tell me why Hextall being a goalie and all does not see the writing on the wall with Elliott who is unreliable at best and Neuvirth who is also unreliable for health reasons. The Flyers could have the most talented skaters in the league and could still not win because of these goofs. I agree Carter Hart could be the answer but man you should give him some time in the AHL and not risk a mental breakdown if things do not go well. Hex and Hax my fav whipping boys, oh and Nucker 101 who takes the prize.

they were signed because he thought he could have a solid tandem without spending significant dollars and years on a goalie knowing they had depth there in hart and sandstrom.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Elliott is kept again next year even if Hart is the starter. He is a good vet, who wasn't bad last year until the injury, who could play a back up role to hart.

Who would you have signed instead?

Maybe in the past. But still has 3 more years around 3.25 I think. If the Flyers didn't have guys like Twarynski or Aube-Kubel maybe. But don't think he is a need at this time. Is a good penalty killer.

That’s the thing. Can’t really blame Hex too much as the options were/are limited.

I do think a trade for Grub or Miller would have been worth exploring. Would have hoped they kicked the tires on a guy like Dubnyk.

Gonna be a while yet.

He will likely be fired by Xmas, the new coach will then lead them to the cup finals. He has been killing this team for years now. That is my opinion only and I am entitled to that. No need to reply MJL with please back that up with substance.

A lot depends on Hart. If he dominates the AHL then there is no need for a goalie with significant term.

Dubnyk could be interesting, but he has 2 more years on his deal after this year. Maybe if Flyers want an upgrade and Minnesota out of playoff hunt maybe you make a play as he could split time next year with hart and then back up or get moved in year 3.

Depending on the cost I would have been more than fine with Dubnyk. A guy like Saros who arguably should already be a starter has been learning and developing behind Rinne. Hart could have done that behind Dubnyk.

He overpaid both of them but was wise to move on from Mason. Carter Hutton would have been better than both. Not a big fan of Lehtonen but he is still a fa and better than both Flyer vets. I want to see Hart but it is risky throwing him in without a little ahl seasoning. It can work both ways, instant success or career confidence issues. Hart is the future, no doubt so be careful.

It was still an asinine move. Broke up one of the teams only strengths and expected Konecny to carry his own line.

I can be realistic about Hak, but that move was questionable at best. It was idiotic to leave it like that game after game.

- flyer_nutter

I agree. They broke up what was a great thing they had going. I understand the reasoning behind it but your breaking up the thing that got you there to begin with. Deserved criticism.

That would have been very smart. Look for the Wild to have a very good season. They are a very good team and Dubnyk is the real deal.

You have made yourself unwelcome here. We see what you say about us on other teams boards. I guess you have some connections in the flyers organization though because they made the mascot resemble you!

I don’t share this opinion. People should be allowed in here to speak freely about the flyers. It’s easy to ignore posts.

I hope it wasn’t implied I don’t like Haks it was an honest question/thought. There’s only so many coaches fired per season or coaching replacements, and I feel majority of replacements are found internally.

But as for having goaltending towards the end of his contract it will be interesting as we have Hart coming and Felix (eventually) but by then, Haks will have several years of these young guys developing. So he will have a strong familiarity with our team and even more with the additional youth coming. I guess it could be said Hexy has viewed Haks as a coaching prospect all along and hopes by the time this youth is in full stride, Haks too will be fully developed and will be the coach this team needs.

Yup. Flyers could be in line for a Halak/Price kind of decision in the future. Wouldn't that be a wet dream.

Why would you think the wild would be anything other than what they’ve been for the past 5 years or so? If ever there was a team just treading water...

Hakstol likes the makeup for both units.

"It becomes a heavier

- VladDrag[first] line, a little bit more of a down-low, grinding line," Hakstol said. "A little more net-front presence. It changes the look of both of those lines. The flipside of that, it's not all about that line. T.K. along with Fil and Simmer have had a couple really good games together, they've looked really good together."

I hated it at first. But I like it now. I don't think I like it for the reasons the creators intended, but I really am enjoying it.

Edit: So supposedly, Gritty was going to be on GMA and Preston and Steve. Can Gritty talk???

- jmatchett383

anyone that hates gritty has no sense of humour whatsoever.....Gritty is gonna be huge.....he's gonna get the Cup passed to him if the Flyers ever win again.
