They're not gonna waive AMac or Gudas and they're not gonna have one of Myers, Sanheim, or Hagg be the 7th defenseman so what other option is there? - ajw12
That. plus the person I was responding to indicated that they'd want Hagg sent down as opposed to Myers, which would require him going through waivers. But let's not actually read here or anything.

You guys have spent the past year predicting that a Gudas trade was imminent. - Feanor
Well, they finally have, arguably, 6 other Dmen as good or better and with only one year left on his deal after this season, he should be easier to move. Of course if went out and played a little better that would help too.
Its a nice faithful cover. Done with respect. BUT, it lacks the one thing that made the original a great song, and that is the Porcaro shuffle. - MBFlyerfan

People always bust on Toto, but those dudes can friggin play. Most people have no conception of just how many hit songs some or all of them have played on.

Hired Gun does a decent job of pointing out that fact

I just don't think Hagg is going to get much better. Honestly not worried about him being here much longer.
He's a very limited dman. I get the numbers game, though.

Yes they can! Jeff Porccaro was a helleva drummer and innovator. First guy to design the rack concept on Pearl Drum kits. So good I bought them and loved them. Good call Bigg.

Arguably, they should waive MacDonald back to the AHL (unlike Hagg he wouldn't be claimed so no organizational depth would be lost) and replace him with Myers, giving the team two RHD in the top 6 and 3 in the top 7.
Exactly -- they do this all the time. Folin was brought in to be the No. 7. He will play a game or two, here or there. If someone is out for longer than that and Myers is strong at LHV, he's gonna get a shot - AllInForFlyers
Myers despite his obvious raw skills still has significant refinement to make in his game. My personal opinion was that I thought he could do that while playing in the NHL. The Flyers feel differently. It's not really a big deal because I don't think he is going to be down there long. Like you said, injuries do happen and he'll have a long future as a Flyer.
Neither Lyon nor Neuvirth will be ready at the start of the season, so unless you acquire someone, the other goalie along with Elliott will be Stolarz or Hart. Stolarz has barely played in over a year and could really benefit, even more than Hart, from getting steady work in the AHL. Hart will be fine. The kid has a good head on his shoulders and getting a few NHL games under his belt in October, whether he plays well or poorly, won't do any lasting damage to him. So far he's been, by far, their best goalie in preseason.
I'd like to see them start Elliott again against the Rags Thursday and see if he's any sharper. I'd then give Hart the start against Boston in the final pre-season which will likely feature, for the most part, each teams opening night lineup. This will be his toughest test and if he performs well, there is no reason not to open the season with Elliott/Hart as the goalie tandem. - BiggE
I don't disagree with your logic. I think either Stolarz OR Hart would be "fine". But assuming that unless Elliott is horrendous, he will be the workhorse until Neuvy or Lyon is ready, do you want the future of the franchise to sit on the nech and learn in morning skates, or learn by starting almost every game in LV?
There is no reason for Myers to be sent down. None. He's played damn well in his time, and played a lot of minutes.
This is the love and sick fascination they have with POS players. - flyer_nutter
Absolute Nutter. There's no reason for this, no reason for that. Hextall and the Flyers just don't know what they're doing! He's played in the pre-season, not in regular season NHL action.

Right now, MacDonald is the team's 3rd best defenseman. They're not going to waive him.
My biggest complaint has nothing to do with benchings or even, for the most part, with his lineups. I'm more concerned that he tends to get locked into this system and doesn't adjust well on the fly if things aren't working. - BiggE
What is happening here? I agree with all of this too. He seems to not have a feel for chemistry or which players have skill sets that complement each other. And he promotes mediocre veterans because they have the experience to "make do" and downgrades players who are struggling because they were matched with players who amplify their weaknesses and inexperience instead of recognizing that they are talented, but need the right situations to develop.

I hope it doesn't happen, because we have already seen these pairings don't work. Sanheim-Gudas was a dumpster fire last season, and Hagg-Myers were the Moe and Curly in Boston.

Sorry to she bothered you Ronald. They have options and to say they don’t is incorrect
