Yeah, it's the first of three really important contacts. Tavares set the top end of the range, Willy sets the bottom, as I think Marner deserves more than him. |

Some of you guys are such old ladies.
Stop playing into the bullpoop gossip about Nylander. This is standard issue negotiation on both sides.
Dubas knows the team can play and win without Nylander. Nylander's agent and dad want the best deal for their client/kid.
They will all (frank) around for a minute and deal will be done.
This whole trade Nylander thing is soooooo JFJr. Why in the (frank) would we want to trade away great players when we just got our (frank)ing hands on them.
I remember Joey Crabbs, Jason Blakes and captain Dions. FFS people quick your gossiping and keep the team in tact. The Leafs will find a D man soon enough without trading Willy.
Oh and PS....none of you clowns know poop about what is being asked for or what is being offered. Stop spreading fake news. Same poop happened when Kadri was signing and nobody had the right number. We got Kadri at a steal.

the only real concern with nylander is how long will it take for him to catch up to everyone else if he signs after the season has already started
gaudreau played at like a 20 point less per 82 game pace than usual when he pulled this |

Reinhardt contract is very reasonable and would save the leafs a helluva headache, buff could add larry and a 3rd

Here's the thing about Nylander's negotiations. Did anyone speculate on what Reinhart was looking for? And what the Sabres were offering?
How about Larkin? Did anyone know what the Red Wings offered and how far away where they from Larkin's camp to begin with?
What about Theodore? What number is he asking for and for how many years? Nick Richie? What's his camp asking for? Miles Wood?
Yet, apparently, every man and his dog know what Nylander's camp asked for and what Dubas was offering. Do the Leafs have a leak in the organization? Or are people saying they know, when really they don't?
Let's bare in mind, the media (and a portion of the fanbase) have been trying to trade Nylander for any dman since his debut a couple of years back. The handling of Nylander through the media has made Mike look like Kadri's biggest fan.
So,in truth, we know that Dubas is not trading Nylander. So, are we saying a bridge deal then longer term deal (will happen) is the more likely scenario? Or are we guessing that he goes straight to long term? - walshyleafsfan
Thanks for getting back to me Walshy. Long time listener, first time caller. So what you're saying is basically that we don't know poop and the media sucks?
Agreed.
My main point is just that we shouldn't necessarily place the blame for this dragging out on Willy being greedy. He's probably just leaving this up to his braintrust and Dubas' peeps.
We'll see how this all plays out, but I'm not too worried. I bet Willy will either end up on a bridge deal or a good value long term deal, it's just a question of when it will happen. |

And this is why getting Tavares was so important. While Willy is not expendable by any means, having JT means that we're still going to roll out 3 dangerous lines, regardless of Willy playing on the top line.
Also, JT means that Matthews line can be sheltered a bit, so a lesser player on his wing doesn't really hurt him, particularly since Marleau is there vs. Hyman. - gravyface
Yes, exactly.
But with nylander....those lines are much more dangerous |

Any of you read the take on Nylanders ask being about the creation of a contract that equates to a NTC. At $6M with his talent - everyone would want him and the Leafs would get a great return if they wanted to move him...at $8M...not so much.
Willie doesn't want to go anywhere and being an RFA, he doesn't qualify for a NTC. |

I’m pretty excited for tonite! We got a cool line this preseason that I’d be interested in our neighbors’ (Ontario) take on. We roll the younger Nylander with Casey Mittelstadt & Tage Thompson (1st rounder from a couple years ago acquired in the O’Reilly deal). Seriously though, stop by the thread tonite and share an honest take...just, you know, be cool. Stay healthy guys, gonna be a really fun year. |

Should be a fun game to watch. You guys have a fair bit to be excited about this year. |
