I would talk to Edmonton about Nurse (other pieces involved). - bullethead7
They need defence worse than we do.
I don't see that deal happening. |

I don't really blame Nylander for the holdout. I blame his agent and his father, who is supposedly taking part in the talks (yeah, having your dad help negotiate your salary, that seems like a brilliant idea) despite not being a player agent himself as far as I know...
Overly interested hockey parents are always so helpful when it comes to player negotiations. After they get this deal signed, maybe Mikey can discuss Willy's ice time with Babcock too.
Willy is likely just at fault for placing his trust fully on his agent and father that are dragging this poop out.
Sounds like Babs is trying to acknowledge the good showing by Liljegren and Sandin, but they are most likely going back to the AHL or junior or whatever. Not too surprising. I was pleased with both in their preseason game. Hope they both have a great year and get even better. - Thecakeisalie
Here's the thing about Nylander's negotiations. Did anyone speculate on what Reinhart was looking for? And what the Sabres were offering?
How about Larkin? Did anyone know what the Red Wings offered and how far away where they from Larkin's camp to begin with?
What about Theodore? What number is he asking for and for how many years? Nick Richie? What's his camp asking for? Miles Wood?
Yet, apparently, every man and his dog know what Nylander's camp asked for and what Dubas was offering. Do the Leafs have a leak in the organization? Or are people saying they know, when really they don't?
Let's bare in mind, the media (and a portion of the fanbase) have been trying to trade Nylander for any dman since his debut a couple of years back. The handling of Nylander through the media has made Mike look like Kadri's biggest fan.
So,in truth, we know that Dubas is not trading Nylander. So, are we saying a bridge deal then longer term deal (will happen) is the more likely scenario? Or are we guessing that he goes straight to long term? |

It seems pretty obvious both want long term.
If it’s not long term they both don’t get what they want and that turns into a situation where both are not happy and a trade probably happens
With that being said I see a long term contract signed within today and game 10 of the regular season. |

eff nylander
he’s soft as slime
doesn’t go to the dirty areas
trade him to the nucks for gudbransson and a 1st+
babRichard will sort him out and get his career back on rack and the loafs may get hughs or a top d prospect and solidify themselves as perrinial cup contenders
let the nucks try and overpay him long term
edit: nice alliteration

I wonder how much time these concerned fans of other teams spend in Vegas thread telling them to hurry up and sign Theodore for 7-7.5 x 8. |

This is REALLY a stupid move by Nylander. I have no idea what he is thinking. He gets to play 1st line with Matthews on a contender.
As time goes on the idea of a trade to upgrade the D will start to become more realistic. - RogerRoeper

So what are the cap ramifications of signing Nylander to $8M deal?
Assuming the cap doesn't go up... of course.
Matthews and Marner would command more I assume. (Maybe Marner getting the same as Willie). With Marleau and JT signed are they in a crunch?? |

I hope we hear really soon that nylander Signed $6.6 - $6.9 range x 7 years. We need him on our team - BreathLeafs2015
6.5 max. Not worth anymore than that. |

So... the extra $2M would strap them up against the cap?

For the next couple of years yes
Cause that would increase marners contract as well. |

And this is why getting Tavares was so important. While Willy is not expendable by any means, having JT means that we're still going to roll out 3 dangerous lines, regardless of Willy playing on the top line.
Also, JT means that Matthews line can be sheltered a bit, so a lesser player on his wing doesn't really hurt him, particularly since Marleau is there vs. Hyman. |

Is it 2 for Nylander, 2 for Marner and 2 for Matthews? |
